Oh that’s right. OP thinks crediting the artist is advertising.

There were obviously no camps yet when Hitler became chancellor. They started by harassing jews, spreading hateful propaganda, smashing in store windows, and slowly enacting laws to restrict jews rights

Yes, there were no camps when the Nazis took power, but it’s not like they took their time opening them:

      Wikipedia on Nazi concentration camps:

The first camps were established in March 1933 immediately after Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany.

I read a novel set in the early days of Hitler’s reign*

A private eye and a cop are chatting.

“Last year, Germany executed thirty five people. This year it’s already over 200. I don’t know where it’s going to end.”

*Berlin Noir trilogy by Phillip Kerr.

The official plan was to ship all eleven million european jews to Madagascar btw. When that became infeasable in 1943 they had a conference where they went “well murder it is then”

There were a couple interesting re-enactments of this for TV and movies. Looks like most the links here are still live: https://lemmy.world/post/24683087

Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

The rules are simple:

  • The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author’s website, for instance).
  • The comic must be a complete story.
  • If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
  • You may post comics from others or your own.
  • If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
  • The comic can be in any language, but if it’s not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post’s ‘body’ field (note: you don’t need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
  • Politeness.
  • AI-generated comics aren’t allowed.
  • Limit of two posts per person per day.
  • Bots aren’t allowed.
  • Banned users will have their posts removed.
  • Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.
