Are people not posting titty memes because of scraper bots?
I mean, there’s always scraper bots. What’s the difference?
Hell, it would be nice if some of the larger search engines scraped lemmy and actually returned results. I’ve searched for tech stuff I posted myself or commented on and couldn’t find it on a search engine. Had to go through my comment history to find it.
I’m struggling to understand why anyone would join the Fediverse if this is a dealbreaker.
ActivityPub is like RSS and Sendmail had a baby that doesn’t respect your privacy at all. Every time you post, comment, or even vote, it’s blasted out to every server and user within the blast radius. If you delete something, there are dozens of databases and image proxy caches ready to ignore the delete request and host your regrettable post forever.
Every time you send a DM, you have to trust all the admins of both instances involved not to read the messages.
Way more is visible than it appears. With the right API calls people know what you upvoted and downvoted.
Both of those links worked just fine for me just now.
I’m beginning to suspect it’s a website that over-promises, because my understanding is that votes are only visible to instance admins and community moderators, so this website working would be entirely dependent upon someone from those lists contributing their “private” data.

lel they can just look here: https://lemvotes.org/
Can you link an example post/comment that works properly?
I only ever get 404s over the handful of occasions in the months I’ve tried that website:
Sure, take a look at these:
Yeah it 404s for me sometimes too, and sometimes if I re-try it later it works, idk why.

Always 404s for me.
That’s why I work really hard on keeping an impeccable image of degeneracy.
Looking at what I post? That’s a you problem now
I don’t like my tiddies getting scraped, soap or no
