    No. I would NEVER say, ‘this ad is different.’ All advertising, as most of the world defines it, is malign.

    You want to tell people about a thing, you use something to tell them thing.

    By that definition you have synonymized communication and advertisement, negating the useful distinction that is needed to do anything about the malign effects of advertising, which you seem to know something about, though you don’t mention the inherent harm in advertising, only the secondary effects of industrialized/automated advertising.

    Yes, we are arguing definition because that definition is the BS definition used by marketers to hide their malign influence on the world. Your definition is wrong, according to most standards by which one can call a definition wrong, and helps the marketing industry to hurt people.
