There are 28 million Black people in the South, give or take depending how you define the South, representing ~60% of the Black population in the US.
Black Americans make up ~15% of the voting population and more than half of eligible Black voters live in the South. They vote Democrat at upwards of 90%.
Deep Southern states have disenfranchised huge swaths of the Black population through various methods of voter suppression, including gerrymandering, going back to the 19th century and continuing until present. Creating white conservative majorities in state legislatures has been a multi-generational effort by conservative politicians and media that has been largely successful and resulting in the environment we see today.
The point of all this is that the South is not, at least in theory, as solidly red as it appears. I see many Democrat voters and white leftists say that we should just abandon the South and focus on swing states, when in reality many of those states could be swing states. And I think we’ll see that in the next week with Black voter turnout surging hugely in the South, especially among young Black voters.
Keep clowning on white racists though because they deserve it.
Couldn’t you say the same about the entire USA? Most of the world hates the USA right now; that doesn’t mean there’s good people, but rather that the country as a whole is pretty messed up.
