Now that’s no reason to give up. After COVID hit, I had a coworker that was anti-vaccine, and she talked to me about it, because she assumed I was as well. I had mentioned something about how whenever I accidentally drop food on the floor, I eat it as a challenge to my immune system. She expected that that thought carried over to vaccine hesitancy. I later sent her an e-mail telling her that my trick of challenging my immune system, was exactly what vaccines were. Then dove into what vaccines actually are and how they work. She later thanked me, and said that I helped her and her husband finally go and get their shots. It was real cool.
So, sometimes, if you approach it the right way, you can still change peoples minds.
Not like I’m an expert though, I’m still running into a brick wall of willful ignorance every time I try to engage with my trump loving parents 🙄
Here’s the thing, Fox News outspends me all the money to none. I just don’t have a shot in hell. Also, I’m the one that has to think up factual arguments while the other side is comfortable screaming crazy racist shit if they think no one is looking. I’d rather talk to allies and push them to greater action than waste another minute detangling the conservative mind.
