Psycho-Pass Season 1 + Movie are the best parts of the series. S2 is mid because of the new ‘main’ character (an obnoxious type). I didn’t even bother with S3 when they replaced the entire old cast.

Right? Build Fighters was incredibly charming, but Divers is genuinely one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I think the AI girl the MC was simping over would’ve had more personality if she were written by an LLM!

Because Divers gave us Re:Rise & had really good gunpla designs

While Fighters gaves us Try & had really half-assed designs (except the Dark Matter Exia)

God I was so hyped for Aldnoah’s second season,

    spoiler

then it starts by undoing the finale of the first one so cheaply

I got so mad I never finished.

    So a lot of mechas ? 😅
The only mecha anime I’ve watched and remember are Code Geass and Aldnoah Zero.
I liked Aldnoah Zero quite a bit personally… that is, I liked season 1.
They fucked up s2 by making it all about the hardware that the MC uses instead of his skill like in s1. They also ruined the last really impactful scene of season 1.

Not enough mecha anime gets produced nowadays. It’s pretty barren outside of Gundam every couple years.

TBF they dragged that horse for miles in the 90s.

There were a couple of really good Mecha + Isekai that I enjoyed recently, or at least I read the manga, “Knights and Magic” as well as “The World of an Otome Game is Tough for Mobs”.

Kaiju No 9 was pretty good. I know it’s a kaiju not a mecha, but it’s pretty similar in execution

The issue with Infinite Stratos is that it’s part of a genre of near exact plot copies. It’s almost always a dude who is accepted into a magic/scifi academy and catches the attention of the flame princess and builds a harem. The MC is always somehow a special unique case.

    Infinite Stratos
    Chivalry of a Failed Knight
    Academy Battle City Asterisk
    Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle
The Testament of Sister New Devil
Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia
The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy
    Absolute Duo
    Blade Dance of the Elementalers
    Freezing
    Myriad Colors Phantom World
World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman
    Hundred

    The list goes on.

Who’s going around hating Infinite Stratos? I will find you and bonk you for hating on that precious combo of stupid, self-aware humour, yuri and mechs.

I really wish SAO was just consistently good thought. I cannot comprehend how you can move between fantastic and terrible so frequently. Like, Alicization started of amazing and then there was also the second half of it…
