  • Same concept but kinda from the opposite direction, kinda like elder scrolls. Magic used to be super powerful and utterly broken but over time it’s degraded for one reason or another some things and groups still have access to the old magic but as a whole it’s pretty inaccessible. This is kinda how magic works in Elder Scrolls, the magic of the Dawn Era and Merithic Era were fucken broken world bending shit that did things like turning Solstheim into an island instead of a peninsula, but the world has since gained too much internal stability or perhaps instability to allow such things all that often, but scratching into that requires getting into Elder Scrolls meta physics which just no.

  • Yeah actually. A lot of laws get shitcanned into irrelevance due to being worded like shit on everything from the local to federal levels. That’s not even getting into conflicts with pre-existing well worded laws or the constitution as a whole.

If it’s worded badly enough it may even just be thrown out on first test due to being vague and too widely applicable. Just for example I drive a 2001 Toyota Tacoma it has an operating system because it’s got an ECU, how the actual fuck would that interact with this law? Obviously the corporate answer is to force me to get a new car but the actual practical answer is that that isn’t viable, so it’s more likely the courts just gut an entire section of the law with one case. Keep up the gutting and sooner or later it’ll end up defunct.

  • Maybe it’s because of my understanding of history but I’d consider Iraq to be Western. It was more or less linked in with Europe going back to the bronze age much like how North Africa was. Frankly speaking the only reason it is usually separated is because of the great Schism and then the crusades which caused much of Europe to consider it as other.
