5·2 months agoYou all realize people commute on bikes all over the world that aren’t bike messengers, hipsters, or obsessive “bike people” right? A bike is a vehicle, not a flag.

41·2 months agoOh jeez, by bike people I meant others that ride a bike. Not necessarily doing nude bike rides or critical mass

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a currently an accurate way to say how much power per prompt LLMs use?English
3·2 months agoI’d imagine it depends on the size of the llm. My local llm is about 20gb and pegs the GPU for maybe 5-10 seconds (6700xt 12gb) so you could probably extrapolate from that based on that. I’m sure these giant AI gpus would be more efficient though so maybe not.

81·2 months agoMy typical reason is I need to sound less casual than I am in professional emails. Or I’ll ramble. I don’t copy paste but I’ll write an email in my normal tone, let the llm look at it and then fix it up. I’ve also used it to help me find new books when I’m in a draught. List ones I like and it’ll spit out suggestions. Today I couldn’t figure out a website issue so I copied and pasted the html and it generated a snippet of css for me that fixed the problem.

491·2 months agoI personally don’t HATE ai but I don’t want it in my browser or email or anything like that. I have a local llm I use for random stuff all the time but I don’t need or want a company viewing everything I’m doing, adding buttons in places I’m likely to accidentally push, or training their shit on my dumb behavior. ai has destroyed much of the Internet already to the point that you almost need to use an llm in order to get any useful information during a search. Otherwise you’re just filtering through ai generated webpages with the highest seo possible.

1·2 months agoIf it’s a quantity issue, rent more cans or a truck to go to the dump/thrift store donation place.
If it’s hard to get rid of stuff, be fearless. If you haven’t utilized an item for 6 months and it’s not sentimental. Get rid of it. (Special exceptions allowed of course).
If you find there is a lot of good stuff you don’t want to get rid of, organize it instead. Plastic bins with covers are great for this. You can label them and store things and find them easily again when needed.

1·2 years agoYou really leaned into the ‘jerk’ vibe with this one

I look for optical clarity. I had a pair if Maui Jims with glass lenses for 7 or 8 years and loved them. They were tough as nails and remained scratch free. I even forgot them on top of my car once and they flew off at speed. Little ding in the frame but lasted for quite a while after that. Only recently did I open my backpack to find one of the lenses cracked. It was a sad day.
