The nice thing about my native language is that it’s pretty phonetically consistent with its spelling, so whenever I needed to remember the spelling of a word in english I could just remember how it would sound when said in my native language :3

I would not say that reflects my experience. The vast majority of the people I interact with outside of the internet don’t play video games, and if they do it’s crossword games or candy crush on their phone, so I would not generally consider video games as an average person thing, or at least it doesn’t seem to be where I live outside the younger generations
Either way, OP said they don’t want RAM hog applications, for which they mentioned video editors taking 8+GB, and I’d say on average games probably take 4-8GB (and I don’t particularly play the modern AAA stuff), so I’d consider them a valid target to exclude on those grounds even if we do define them as something for average people

I was talking more in terms of “normie” programs than games tbh, they’d obviously use way more lol
And yeah, electron wrappers would also be up there, for me spotify is at around 200-300MiB, I don’t have slack or vscode so can’t check those. In terms of having generic programs rather than specific named ones as OP mentioned electron apps may be harder to specify or label in a way that’s recognizable to most people

There’s not that many programs most people use that consume a substantial amount of RAM, generally browsers are by far the heaviest ones.
I have a system monitor open rn and looking at some basic apps a calculator app uses around 30MiB, office programs would be around 150MiB unless you’re opening massive files, an email client would be around 100MiB, a PDF viewer is around 60MiB, a file manager is 40MiB, a video player is a 100MiB etc.

You need to capitalize your I’s to start. Also I think your punctuation could be better, it’s for the most part commas and periods, which looks quite flat for creative writing. I’d say try out using more dashes, semicolons, and other punctuation marks to “spice it up”

Oh they’re planning to replace the standard link view with AI overview in general :3 source
There’re quite a few alternative search engines; I personally use duckduckgo, but startpage is also good, I hear, I’ve been trying it out in cases where ddg doesn’t get my desired results :3. There’s also searXNG which is more technical, but quite good in terms of fetching results from a bunch of stuff, and a lot of people I know swear by kagi, but that one is a paid service. Those are the main “big” ones I see around. Of course they’re by far not the only ones
I can just sense the collection of fedoras from all the way here
Bad crop? Bro, we’re gonna starve

Hey I watched a video on this years ago :3
I think it basically boiled down to they all have lightning powers, because the first black hero did, and then everyone copied it (and also good contrast or something)
Rigby me boy, let’s play punchies, arg arg arg arg!

Somehow this does not surprise me. Seems in line with everything else in the US

Yeah that :3

From what I’ve heard 9-5 was a thing before employees were given a mandatory 1 hour lunch break which was counted as non-work time. So basically the work schedule was shifted to account for break time no longer being counted as part of the work day.
Of course I’ve never looked into it, so there’s a good chance it’s not that :p
Not in my native language :3
I was also thinking greenish blue. Though im leaning towards dark turquoise
Why is there no aslume wing in lemmy, are we stupid?

Damn. Well my first idea was picking Overlord, as that’s definitely a dystopia (constant smog from pollution, extreme work hours etc.) but eventually the main character ends up in a different world (which is still kinda bad tbf, being basically medieval with magic) but I feel like given the circumstances I could end up decently high societally in it… but if there’s no guarantee that entering that other world would happen, then that just straight up sucks :3
Honestly the easiest answer is probably some form of dystopia with a pacified but content general populace, like Fahrenheit 451, though that’s also the “boring” one, as there’s no real gamble for ending up in a higher or less dystopian position

Im gonna guess I don’t get to choose my role in this dystopia if it’s one with a class divide or aliens or somesuch… im gonna ask as a followup if I pick a dystopia based on a piece of media, if the events that occur within it would also occur in this scenario, or is it just dystopia inspired by it, but not necessarily following the events?

Not wrong lol. But you need to be smart to pass the classes to become a teacher in the first place, which really is the hard part :3. I looked into what I needed to be accepted into the courses when I was looking into what to study, and my grades didn’t meet the requirements
