I was on the fence when it was first announced (just because i had heard the reports about steam machines back in the day) but when I found out you could open it up and upgrade the storage yourself I decided to bite the bullet.

I have never regretted the purchase. I immediately stopped gaming on my (Linux) desktop and have been gaming on the Steamdeck now (almost) exclusively for the past like 3 years. I’ve upgraded the storage (64GB to 512GB) and replaced the thumbsticks when the old ones fell apart.

Tl;dr: Agree! Steam Deck no regrets!

The 13 (amd) can charge from either side not sure if the ports closer to the keyboard also charge at the same speed

It heavily depends in your usecase but if you want to use gpg to encrypt emails and dont want to do it all in the terminal i really recommend using Thunderbird it integrates gpg very well and makes it mostly seamless.

Other than that afaik Kleopatra is the only standalone GUI for gpg simply because most of the time gpg is integrated in workflows (simply using the cli interface vor gpg libraries) and plain gpg for simple tex/file encryption/signing is just not a usecase.many people have

On the other hand we asked an LLM last week how many full time employees it would take to manage everything we’re doing and the result was 6-8. We currently have more like 2.5 with 1.5 coming. So at least AI believes we need more rather than less employees.

I don’t believe that will happen permanently. I’m a Sysadmin currently working in client support I don’t think ai will drive around town and fix laptops for the clients bit if it ever does AI still needs servers to run on. Also something with Wood maybe?

Im coming up on 15 years of being a Linux user. From playing around/tinkering to leading to my first Job to now working as a Linux Sysadmin for a couple of years.

While i would generally agree I’ve fiddle with htpc and stuff for solo long. Then I broke down a few years ago and bought a cheap TV with GoogleTV (version 10 or something) on it. I removed some bloat via ADB but it still is GoogleTV do I get some ads on the home screen. However I installed SmartTube, Kodi, Jellyfin but also Netflix and Amazon Prime since those are the two services I still subscribed to. And I have to admit I’m a happy camper. I got used to ignoring the ads on the home screen and being able to directly play Netflix/YouTube … whatever without setting up a browser or something on top of Kodi or whatever is just such a breeze.

Well, Breaking Bad is already on here and its really good. But to me Better Call Saul is one of, it not the best shows out there. Also doing the whole chronology:
Better Call Saul till the middle of S6 > Breaking Bad > Rest of Better Call Saul > El Camino
Really slaps.

Other than that The Leftovers is quite an underappreciated piece of Television. It simply delivers 3 Season increasingly weird and intriguing and then its just finished.

I also really enjoyed Station 11 bit of a different take on a Post Apocalyptic World and a great miniseries

Honestly. I used to always keep my window open* over the night. This winter was the first I have regularly not opened my window and just opened it for a bit during the day (yes stoßlüften), which I of course did before as well, since I’m German 😅

* when I say “open” I mean my window would usually be tilted open (“gekippt”) not fully opened wide

Phone far too offen. I wouldn’t even need to get up to watch in my TV just turn around in Bed. But often I watch quick videos, or finish a video I’ve started while cooking, on my phone my TV just over there on the Wall. Often I’ll turn off the TV to sleep and just grab my phone and watch half an hour of shorts

Well … My go-to is still Hbomberguy. Eben if I don’t know/care about the topic I know every vid of bis will be interesting and worth the time investment. The jokes are really funny (even on rewatches) and I’ve learned a lot. I watch old Hbomb videos to Fall asleep to almost every night.

Main issue: there’s one video every 1-2 years … However if you’ve never seen one you’ll have the back log to get through.
