Just adding to this, as an environmental educator I love “nature is metal” moments, like watching a bunny in a field, and a hawk swoops down and kills it. We are outdoors, in both of their habitats. It is part of nature. Still doesn’t mean I want to see humans hurting animals in the context of scrolling Lemmy.

Butchering animals is a sacred skill and has a lot of baggage attached to it. Just look at Japanese society. It should be given respect.
If your argument is that banning gruesome content related to eating animals is similar to banning racial violence in news coverage because people don’t like to see it, then I’ll agree with you. It shouldn’t be banned, and we should all eat less meat. But I still don’t want to see it.
Keep in mind that the existence of downvotes do not absolve the duty of mods to moderate their community.
I’m kind of tired of seeing comics by known bad actors here. I could and have blocked the account that posts them, but that equates to tacitly approving of them, since newcomers will see that this content is allowed in a large community, without knowing that people are blocking them and not interacting with their posts. And by staying subscribed, I add to that community.
It is your choice to moderate the community the way you see fit. If you know of any alternatives that do have stricter moderation, I would certainly go there instead.

I think I misspoke before – artists are more well known than composers, but songs are the top.
I’d say compared to classical, the songs are more well known than the composers. For example, every jazz head would have heard of “Stella by Starlight” or “Misty”, but wouldn’t necessarily know the composers of those tunes.
Whereas with classical, people might have heard of Mozart, but not be able to name too many of his compositions.
I feel this in my bones.
