Ithaca is sort of a charming college town, a lot of art/nature/hippy vibes. If you had to be in central ny for some reason it wouldn’t be a bad place to spend some time. I would not make a special trip for it tho.

It’s mostly rural vs urban. Not uncommon to hear red small town people, who have never visited the blue population center of their state call it a crime ridden tax drain (lol) and vocally support secession.
