No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do pot or other drug dealers "lace" their drugs knowing full well it will pretty much kill their customer base and rep? Is this not like a retail store telling customers everyday FUCK YOU and hope
2·10 days agoI’m sure in Canada there are some issues with regulating it but can’t say I’ve had more than ‘this doesn’t quite impact me the same as other bud I’ve purchased in % range of thc’ and yeah I know other factors too.
Quite pleasant being able to get bud shipped to your door through postal system, just either have to sign or pick up the package the next day after 1pm if you weren’t home. Plus comes express so usually only a couple business days. It’s relatively safe (depending on format) but you still can get gummies and such to mitigate some health risks. Then you get the bonus of helping through regular taxes, which I know most people don’t like but society has to run somehow. Prices were higher when first introduced then came down as more supply available, though that took a couple years really.

1·15 days agoI was thinking Trump was upset he wasn’t getting a cut…but guess the donation would assist with any issues from that so seems about right.
I had a similar thought, I sold those things so many years ago, it is retro. It was before the gameboy advanced (okay only by like 8 months if I saw the correct dates). I actually thought they came out further apart and advanced was later but apparently March and November dates. 2001 was a good year, Xbox year too.

21·22 days agoThanks for the link I never remembered the numbers to know if it was for that or not…course been online long enough to know that’s the code (style) shown in comments. Was a lot of comments at one point.
My only unsureness of the code is cause I’m old and miss newer stuff so had to check to be sure.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google Fiber will be sold to private equity firm and merge with cable companyEnglish
7·22 days agoI always thought the 1Gbps was awesome and perhaps a good incentive for other companies to upgrade (probably more the reason since they’re Google and their ad bucks). Recently saw a reason to switch for 2.5, did it then was told by the installer they don’t even have cable that does it. Mean. I did it myself and my stream downloads are quite fast, but it’d have been nice if my provider mentioned that in the first place so I knew who had to run the wires. It was only through some holes, behind the sink / dishwasher so not awful but you td have been nice to understand 2.5 was higher than their techs supported. Also needed a switch / router upgrade. Which was actually quite fun to do and minimal cost now can get a mesh wifi going.
Still if your techs can’t provide what is needed in cables for your upper end least tell the customer first.

Technology@lemmy.world•AI promised to free up workers’ time. UC Berkeley researchers found the opposite.English
81·29 days agoProbably not what this article means but had a coworker at a previous job give a bunch of suggestions or answers at one point (want to say very small company single programmer is me, few tech support and sales people). One guy gives suggestions based on chat gpt, so I end up figuring out what is incorrect from the suggestion.
Mean I know he’s trying to be helpful but giving suggestions that don’t work is a bit of a time waster. To be honest I’m probably middling as a programmer, I can figure out stuff but not a fantastic one (maybe I sell myself short never come across an issue I couldn’t solve but took time). So having to spend time to go over that just makes me go over stuff I really don’t need to. Quite a pain, as much as I appreciate them trying to help it’s a time waster checking out those options to see if they work.
No idea of the comic (mean hadn’t seen it as far as I know) but this joke made me laugh. Reminds me of Perry Bible fellowship which has some of the most odd humour but right up my alley.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those of you with bathrooms attached to your bedroom, do you normally keep the door open or closed while you sleep and what's your reasoning?
3·1 month agoWhen I slept in the room with the ensuite, we didn’t care when we slept. Mean don’t think either of use dropped deuces (#2) close to sleep time there, we also have 2 other toilets so that bls.
Basically my thought is, if someone can smell it less if I pooped elsewhere in the place, do it that spot. Cause I don’t like smelling poop so assume others do not care to either.
Course I have my own issues but still assume that’s a good rule to live by. Man when a date had a curtain over the bathroom doorway and not a solid (well semi solid there mostly empty in the middle) door I couldn’t relieve myself. Mean enough making out maybe I could tinkle but that’s about it.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Incel propaganda in my music appEnglish
1·1 month agoI basically only use Youtube to watch let’s plays (video games) never dipped my toe into other media site to see how it tries to show that stuff. Then if I need something new to watch I’ll find newer games I may be interested in and search accordingly or watch older videos of people that I enjoyed.
I’m sure that keeps me in the bubble of entertainment vs political stuff but really I’ve rarely seen that stuff pop up. I’d probably stop all together if I only saw some of the crap I’ve heard of people’s experiences.
New can be interesting but rather just prefer a good player explaining why they’re playing like they do. Some strategy games (paradox) can be quite complicated to understand the finer points. Makes life better not hearing/watching dumbasses.

That’s about my thought if a program became actually sentient then yes turning it off would be awful. Plus obviously the first sentient artificial life form who knows if it’d happen again. I guess it could be debated if it was a simulation and tons were sentient and had no life outside of such.
I still go with my first answer though, any sentient life observed outside natural biology would be a huge thing. I’d still want to give it a limited sandbox to work with so didn’t go all Hal or Deus Ex to achieve some random goal that wasn’t apparent. Least for awhile.
