“Be yourself. And then make sure “yourself” is someone people want to be around.”

That’s my kink.
At least where I’m from the stop lights start switching before the emergency vehicle gets to the intersection. It helps clear the traffic in the direction the emergency vehicle is going. We are a little more car centric in the states so maybe you just don’t run into the issue where that becomes the solution.
Your lights won’t change with an emergency vehicle needing to get through? How do they manage?
This would be my take with the only caveat being if the green light was exceedingly short due to emergency vehicles. Rather than saying that’s 2 stops I’d mention the emergency vehicles and they messed with the timing.

But do you know how much FREEDOMTM we have?!

Sports betting tends to involve a “spread” so the favored team must win by a certain amount. So if team A is favored to win and the spread is 7, you lose a bet on them if they only win by 6 or less. The spread is chosen to induce a 50/50 split of bets. So if team A is favored and the spread is 7 half the people think they’ll win by more than 7 and the other half thinks they’ll lose or at least not win by 7 or more.
These “prediction markets” pool all the money together and you get a portion of that pool depending on how much you wagered. So if you place $100 and are the only bet on the US bombing Iran on a specific date, and a 5 others bet $10000, you win $10100 (minus some fees) and they win nothing. If those 5 bet $2000 each, they’d only get $2020 each (minus some fees).

Which is what I find crazy. That money comes from advertising which is not endless. How are the advertisers able to show any semblance of ROI when nothing is passing through? Obviously Spotify doesn’t care if the proles voice their discontent. But how are they able to keep the advertisers from getting fed up with no returns?

Given the hype and the types of people that push this shit, I can’t imagine any fruitful KPIs being applied. A good KPI should be hard/impossible to game, regularly tracked, and should have understood limits or action triggers (i.e. what result from a KPI is acceptable vs needs improvement).
Had a yearly review where one of my metrics was decreasing NCRs. The numbers showed more than a 25% reduction in NCRs from the previous year when my goal was like 5%. Of course this was over covid and that weren’t accounting for volume of orders which plummeted that year. On paper I did fucking phenomenal.

What time of day?
Sure as fuck ain’t drinking your ovaltine.

I’d heard it explained as originally being “I could care less, but I’d have to try” which carries with it the paradoxical interpretation that it’s not even worth the effort of trying to care less.

The silver(ish) lining is that he is actively reducing how much power that position actually has in the world. Our soft power has been demolished.

No they won’t. He was in once and then gone. But he came back and so much worse. He has demonstrated that not only is there enough appetite among the voting populace for his brand of hate and violence, but that our institutions are woefully incapable of protecting their own country let alone the fucking world. Prior to that I’m sure most of the world would have thought straight up kidnapping a “democratically” elected world leader and a full on unprovoked war (in all but name) would be impossible. But here we are. Anything short of an actual uprising or revolution won’t be sufficient on their own. I’d bet good money we don’t have a chance at seeing a return to the position and soft power we held for at least half a century.

What are you hoping to gain from arguing? I have a Facebook “friend” that I have argued with on many occasions. I will never convince him of anything. In fact, there’s a good chance I’ve pushed him even further into his psychosis entrenching him even further in his echo chamber of bullshit. My goal isn’t to convince him. My goal is to have the counter-point to his asinine crazy readily available. Also, since he owns a local business and fully flaunts his idiocy, others have taken notice and it’s affected his business.

Picture is a black man in a suit. Top line starts a sentence or thought that could easily be finished in a racist way. Bottom line finishes it in a completely non racist way.

Politically correct black man comes to mind? I think how you described table two is not a common occurrence and belies typical expectations.

Had a 100+ year old house built for a steel mining company. Full cinder block siding on 2 stories and a basement. Joists in the basement were full size 2x10s nestled snugly between steel reinforced concrete joists (I forget the length on center). Had to replace some sub floor on the second floor under the toilet. More steel reinforced concrete joists. The nukes ever start flying I’m hightailing it back there and busting in… provided they didn’t reinforce the door.
Not to go on a separate tangent, but that’s the entire point of guns. They are supposed to kill. That’s not meant to be some crazy conservative defense of them or opposition to regulating them. Just pointing out something that seems to get lost in conversations.
