I really do like seeing so many older comics showing up on Lemmy a few at a time.

Trolling is interacting with people, usually disingenuously, with the goal of eliciting a specific, usually negative, reaction. It certainly is possible to troll people by telling the truth (or without saying a word) and it’s certainly possible to be aiming for a reaction that isn’t negative, but usually there’s an element of being disingenuous to piss someone off.

Trolling is inevitable. Sometimes it’s politically motivated, sometimes it’s for fun, sometimes it’s literally a game with actual points. Some trolls are obvious, some are nearly impossible to tell from the genuine article.

The impact of trolling varies based on the subject, the target, and the method. Usually I find it’s best to ignore the possibility of trolling unless it’s obvious, simply due to the fact that assuming people are trolling may interfere with genuine communication, whereas assuming people are being genuine only interferes with meaningless interactions. Some say it’s better to ignore trolls, but personally I think it’s better to focus on content rather than intent. Interact when interaction is called for, ignore when it isn’t, and don’t pull your hair out wondering whether it’s a real conversation.

You do realize the issue is not the billions of people occupying the planet, but the handful controlling the wealth those people create, do you not? If the business interests of the richest people on Earth weren’t a factor in decision-making, we could do much better with our 8 billion.

Genesis had a few more mature-themed ads at the time. They seemed to be trying to position themselves in a different niche from Nintendo’s more family oriented image.

I feel like because of their size, weight distribution may be a less pressing (haha) concern.

I’ve never had a gumbo that engaged in apologetics for slavery or that was steeped in antisemitism. Must taste weird. What would you even do? Write on the rice?

Keep in mind, it’s also the series where one of the fascist teachers kills the retroactively gay character but had a good reason for doing so and is actually not a baddie at all.

I don’t see the words “irredeemable monster” anywhere other than in this post.

What it does mean is that they can’t be bothered to let Rowling’s behavior influence their decision making. When a so-called trans ally can’s stop waving around their Harry Potter merch, I question their conviction. If they can’t even abstain from helping to maintain the relevance and popularity of a property directly benefiting one of the most prominent transphobes on the planet, at what point will they stand up? Should I believe someone who can’t stop yapping about this franchise in front of me is suddenly going to shift their priorities if someone harasses me on the street?

I don’t expect that they’ll join in and actively make it worse, but I’d be a fool to look to them for support. It signals that they care more about convenience than they do putting their foot down about trans people being mistreated.

Always make sure to report to the user’s home instance in cases like these, and highlight that it’s an illegal modification of a copyrighted work to remove attribution.
