Back before searching for files was built into the file explorer in Windows, I created a folder scheme where each directory had 10 subfolders named 0-9. You needed the “pin” to find the right one. It was good for maybe 4 deep? before it the folder creation script fell apart.

Disclaimer: this was so long ago, and this post triggered the memory, so I honestly can’t remember if this was just an idea I had that didn’t work, or if it was a real thing I managed to pull off with some basic batch scripting. Either way though, the folder decoy thing was real.

Or someone trying to eek out a living with their music can get paid to do so. There’s no shortage of music to suit people’s tastes, the problem is discovering it because Spotify sucks at recommendations, and actively promotes AI slop to pad their profit margins while stiffing real musicians. So many mixes use AI instead of recommending actual artists specifically so they don’t have to pay royalties.

There might be a market for talentless trash music generators, but it actively harms real people creating real music with their real talent, and I refuse to participate. Fuck AI music. Just because there’s a market for something, doesn’t automatically mean it’s good, or the right thing to do.

Keeping my '03 running as long as I possibly can. Does the radio work? No. Do I need the dome light to see my speed at night because the dash lights burnt out? Yes. Is the seat disintegrating more and more each day? Yep. Does it leak when it rains really hard? I do get a little spritz every now and then.

But that fucker’s been paid off for two decades, and I can think of exactly one time when it was incapacitated due to a cracked radiator after 20 years on the road. 20 years of reliable service. It doesn’t even whine at you for not wearing your seatbelt, it’s so old. All you get is a little reminder light. It makes a bigger deal out of you leaving the headlights on.

I REFUSE to buy the enshittified touch screen trash that passes for a car today. Give me a fuel efficient, safe vehicle with physical buttons and a basic ass stereo and I might reconsider.

If I misread your comment, I apologize. It’s not easy to dig through every comment thread and map each person’s replies to the claims they’re making in other threads. If you were simply disputing the number quoted in the meme, that wasn’t clear.

I’ve been conditioned by lots of other online interactions by insane right wing MAGA lunatics to read that as a whataboutism argument, a bias I’m realizing is creating a lot of confusion here.

I’m glad I asked. I agree, that comment is bullshit. The way you responded, it wasn’t clear what you meant, to be honest. It reads a bit like you’re defending the MAGA justification for going to war.

“They killed 20k protestors” is ambiguous in its meaning. Are they saying that’s a lie, and MAGA is stupid for not seeing that it’s a psyop? Or are they saying MAGA is stupid for thinking that’s really why we’re going to Iran, to rescue the civilians, and save them from this evil regime?

You seem to have taken the first interpretation. I think a lot of other people here assumed the second. Also, I don’t even see that comment, so it’s even more confusing what you meant.

If Trump was trying to rescue them from the Iranian regime, he sure has a weird way of going about it, yeah? The only thing he’s been bitching about is opening the strait. He’s even threatened to bomb Iran “back to the stone age where they belong” his words, if they don’t comply. And “kill an entire civilization”, doesn’t really sound like a good way to stop the murder of civilians.

Iran committing violence against their citizens is reprehensible and should be condemned. Obviously. But if you really believe that’s why Trump is waging this war, you should consider the overwhelming evidence that he’s been played by the Israelis and his sycophant cabinet is too scared to tell him it’s a fucking horrible, stupid idea, that will only serve to harm US interests in the region. If the Iranians benefit in any way from this war, it’s an unintended consequence. He’s a moron with a god complex. He has ZERO care for the Iranian people, because he only cares about himself. That’s all he’s ever cared about.

I agree it is. It’s just not there yet. Speaking for myself, I still have a lot to lose. I know a lot of people in that same boat, and these people saying we should overthrow our government forget that a significant portion of the populace fully supports what the trump administration is doing and many of them work for the fucking cops. And the ones who don’t support trump aren’t desperate enough yet. It’s going to take a critical mass of desperation before anything real changes. I wish it didn’t work that way, but too many people are complacent and just fuck off whenever they’re given an opportunity to vote these cunts out.
