It’s a pretty big meme amongst people who actually experience horrors of communism that prominent tankies are as far removed from real communism as possible e.g. mom’s basement in an extremely privileged west europe/us doing nothing but armchair analysis without actually contributing anything else.

Or any other minority in China
But don’t worry, some dutch guy from mom’s basement living on welfare will tell us that it’s not what it looks and it’s actually good for unified diversity of all people
Built? By whom?
The issue with soviet blocks was not the density. The actual design was brilliant as each of these blocks had all conveniences like schools and shops within reach.
The issue as with most soviet union is corruption and management incompetence. They took one design and applied to 15% of world’s land mass. So the house in deep Siberia and coast of warm Azerbaijan were the almost the same. To add society was so broken than no one actually cared for the vision these houses had. This is entirely system failure not a design one.
People live just fine in close quarters - just take a look at Japan.
More content is good in a system like Lemmy which is designed around filtering. So continue posting!
Doesn’t all tech have serial numbers these days? Is no one checking?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Can you really seperate the art from the artist?English
1·18 days agoYes I do think giving them brainspace would be unethical but I’d agree with you that in practice is not impactful. That being said I imagine if employed at mass scale would have positive effects on our society. Attention matters in how society develops.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How would an anarchist society work?English
62·18 days agoI really like low scale anarchy (town level) but high scale would only work with strong scifi-level decentralization tools where public goods can be negotiated and developed without massive centralized bodies.
Alternatively society has to enter a post resource scarcity era - as in star trek replicator level of advancement.
Another way it could work if there was a massive population reduction as very few people in the world left but at that point political systems are the least interesting thing to think about.
Unfortunately due to game theory and real life power curves true global anarchism with current technology is simply impossible.

181·18 days agoIt has gotten much better. More content and general activity and nutjobs at .ml and similar got mostly isolated from the rest of the network.
I think fediverse is really shaping up as a strong reddit alternative. Most pop subjects are mirrored here and the vibe is very similar to early reddit so there no real reason to go to reddit other than super niche communities like of a tv show or something.
Most props go to the lemmy.world team as it kept a consistent big sane network running that keeps the project stable! If .world never happened I think Lemmy would have remained cess pool of social rejects like most reddit alternatives like Voat or lemmy.ml

162·23 days agoWhat actually might help: hold people who design these tools criminally liable. Everyone knows what they are doing but you can’t really say no to your employer because “don’t worry you’re not liable” so everyone continues on building the Torment Nexus.

Lmao this is cultural genocide 101. I know because soviet union did the same to my country under the same absurd language like “unity” and “greatness”. Even if you are delusioned here you have to admit these are almost satire levels of red flags, no?
