Funny enough, I installed Win11 on a friend’s HP convertible laptop today.

A 2GHz i3 and 4GB RAM, and it was still entirely usable. Not powerful by any means, but a fine socials browser, YouTube viewer, and document writer.

I’d have preferred to put Debian on it, but it wasn’t my call, so I did as requested.

It’s all good, my dude.

Particularly when it’s an old Intel Mac that Apple obsoleted years ago, but which still runs Linux perfectly. Also, they’re reasonably powerful and cost bugger all because the M-series Macs have blown them all out of the water.

Eh, I’m at a stage where the gender binary makes zero sense when it comes to appearance and socialisation. Why do women wear dresses and men don’t? I modded my 4th gen, and replaced the battery while I was in there. The trouble with mine is that it won’t charge with USB, so I had to spend out on a FireWire charger. Also, the HDD in 4G is IDE, where the 5G+ are SATA, so if you do decide to mod a newer one you’ll need a new adapter.

It is pretty though. And very easy to mod.

So I took the broken one to work and asked my electrician buddy if he could run a multimeter over it.

One 8p capacitor later and now I have a 4K monitor as well.
