  • I think there isn’t a black and white (no pun intended) rule when it comes to standing up for someone else.

There are situations where it’s appropriate and situations it’s not.

And it’s hard to say across the board to keep your mouth shut if you are white and see another group being discriminated against. Or to always interject yourself.

I’m a woman and I think of the times I’ve been in a situation where I really would have appreciated a man stepping in so that I didn’t have to be the one woman calling out something so blatantly misogynist.

Because then I’m seen as the bad person. The snowflake.

But other times, I think . Men need to shut up about what they think women need or want about our reproductive health because they don’t know anything. But I sure would like it if they supported what we said.

My general rule is. I back people up if they say something about an injustice and show I support them.

But if I see blatant discrimination and injustices being enacted on someone, I will call it out.

And try my best not to draw attention to the person being discriminated against and make them feel embarrassed.

  • Have you met millennial women. ?

    We don’t age.

It’s a running joke but also yeah we are all 40ish and look like we just got started with our 30s.

How we did it. :: (take notes you young wipersnappers)

-We watched a lot of cartoons growing up.

    -We played outside.

-We have hobbies that we love that make us happy

-We learned smoking is bad, mkay and not many of us smoke or vape (though we do like our booze in moderation)

-A lot of us are child free. We retain the longest youthful appearance.

  • There is a word for when movements become basically fashion trends or goods/services to be sold.

    “commodification”

Is it cool to wear a Che Guevara tshirt?

    A tshirt with RBG?

    What about wearing a keffiyeh?

Commodification is the process of transforming inalienable, free, or gifted things (objects, services, ideas, nature, personal information, people, or animals) into commodities, or objects for sale.[1][2][3][4][5] It has a connotation of losing an inherent quality or social relationship when something is integrated by a capitalist marketplace.[5][6] Concepts that have been argued as being commodified include broad items such as the body,[7] intimacy,[8] public goods,[9] animals[10] and holidays.[11]

This is also something that happens often with alternative counter culture. Weakening it’s power.

Goth and punk clothing is sold at high end fashion stores and the original sub culture and ideas that these groups promoted has largely been lost. (Punk to emo pipeline)

Though legit old school punk artist still push their ideas often and haven’t “sold out” for commercial success.

They keep it real. But corps still try to capitalize on their appeal and degrade it’s message by making it a trend.

  • I have heard that some libraries actually rent out power tools. And other types of tools.

I would guess that’s more common in mid sized to larger cities. But it’s also not advertised very well so you have to ask your local library and check.

Ive heard some libraries rent out all sorts of things like Gardening tools. Even musical instruments. Sewing machines. Dvd players. Cassette players. VHS players. Tvs ?

I should check it my local one has a power washer cause I have one job I need one for and I could just buy one and return it a week later.

Or. Pay $30 a day to rent from a hardware store.

Or if the library has one, that would make things a lot easier.
