Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you feel your job is important and are you proud to do it?
2·30 days agoI work in the auto industry but my product is a luxury device that not many people care or know about
I used to work on human interface devices likeinstrument panels and radios and displays and it was more satisfying to see me products in the wild

Technology@lemmy.world•Instagram quietly drops end-to-end encrypted chatsEnglish
63·1 month agoMy understanding is that Whatsapp is “real” e2e and it’s based on signal protocol. That app is the main IM in many countries so they’ll probably won’t mess too much with it
I didn’t really expect Instagram or messenger to be really encrypted

3·1 month agoMaybe I’m confuding tools but I think I used Odin to flash my s10e. I didn’t jailbreak it, I just updated it from a carrier locked firmware to the official Samsung version

1·1 month agoI mean good-ish in the lesser-evil type of thing. I don’t expect any of those to be 100% ethical but there are some that are a lot worse than others
I don’t really have a computer capable of running a local AI. I have an i3 laptop from around 6 years ago with 12gb of RAM and integrated graphics

2·1 month agoNo, I mean good in the sense of less evil. I don’t ask any question to a bot where I need complete accuracy

31·1 month agoIs there a “good-ish” AI chatbot? I uninstalled chatgpt and started using claude over the weekend 🤡
I don’t use it that much, maybe a couple of questions a week and some help understanding Japanese grammar

Technology@lemmy.world•Car Wash Test on 53 leading AI models: "I want to wash my car. The car wash is 50 meters away. Should I walk or drive?"English
102·2 months agoEven when they give the correct answer they talk too much. AI responses contain a lot of garbage. When AI gives you an answer it will try to justify itself. Since they won’t give you brief responses the responses will be long.
It’s not even a good movie to begin with, no need to give it a pass on the sexism and other issues

3·2 months agoLooking at my nearest Costco vs Walmart prices
Ribeye choice:
Costco $15.99 / lb
Walmart $23.47 / lb
Ribeye prime
Costco $20.99 / lb
Walmart $27.98 / lb
I find it “funny” that most of the world celebrates labor/workers day on May 1st to commemorate the Chicago protest to fight for 8-hour shifts and workers rights but in the US they don’t even talk about it.
Labor Day in the US was chosen kinda arbitrarily to fall between independence Day and Thanksgiving Day

Uff I never had a bad experience with them, I got my refund very quickly the only time I had a major issue but I’ve not used them in a while
Lately I check these “discount hotel” websites and then check directly with the hotel to get a price match. They usually do with Priceline, agoda, booking, experian and hotels.com
