

Part of the issue is because a lot of people aren’t literally in shanties it’s hard for people to recognise that poverty is becoming quite remarkably bad. The poor have electricity and internet now and I think its screwing with our brains. The other major factor here is that a lot of homeless people live in their cars rather than shanties which makes the issue less visible as cars look more expensive than shacks and tents and parked cars are ignorable. The average quality of living for people at the bottom is better than the gilded age but the income and quality of living divide is terrifyingly vast and it’s not improving.
