Gotta start somewhere. De-googling takes time and even if you never fully get there, just cutting off some of the big services that they harvest your data from like Gmail and Photos is a great first step.
I have my Pixel 9 plugged in the majority of the time so I’ve had the cap max battery setting turned on since I got it so it only ever goes up to 80%. I’m hoping this keeps the battery in good health for at least five or six years so I can keep using this thing.
If you actually want to do it, have faith in yourself. It’s not that hard if you read the guide and watch a YouTube video or two. You’re probably smarter than you give yourself credit.
Pixel 9 with Graphene OS. I don’t really bother with backups besides my personal photos since there’s nothing critical on my phone. But I use immich for photos hosted on my unraid server.
I do have two backup Raspberry Pis, one at my house and one at a friend’s, that my photos and other critical data is backed up to daily.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•My fellow 'Muricans, do you prefer metric or standard measurements?
6·22 days agoI use metric when working on personal projects and cad, I would vote yes if a miracle happened and switching all of the us to metric was on the ballot.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•how do you only sleep 3 hours a day? (inspiration)
56·23 days agoI don’t think that’s possible to do and be healthy and happy, lol. I only get four to five hours of sleep on my work nights due to my long commute and I’m pretty tired and use both of my breaks to sleep in my car.

38·26 days agoI’m glad Kirk got necked and it’s sad he supports him, but that doesn’t change the fact ladybird is an exciting open source project that I can’t wait to try out.

326·27 days agoLadybird is gonna be awesome, you are overblowing things, it’s an open source project chill out. Also sevro is not currently really being designed as a desktop web browser. Its a web engine for light weight embedded applications. Ladybird is currently the only in development webbrowser that is primarily designed with desktop main browser use as its intended use.
And I know you aren’t a fan but in the next 5 years pretty much every piece of software you touch will have code from an LLM in it, so get over it or stop using software.

Preach brother, a remnant of the olden days when humans were dumb, ignorant, and didn’t have science.

Allmost all tvs are smart tvs these days, just never connect it to wifi and use external devices like an HTPC.
