Is that an insult or just a misguided attempt to help? How is a schizophrenic theory a piece of computer hardware?
Just a guy. Totally lost and confused, and not socially adjusted enough not to say it out loud.

Is that an insult or just a misguided attempt to help? How is a schizophrenic theory a piece of computer hardware?

It was not a 3D render, it was a photo of a piece of hardware in the shape of a cube. Not cube-like, a cube with some parts sticking out. I’m like 90% sure it was mostly circuit board in deep blue. I don’t think it was a PC per se, but definitely physical hardware. And the official name might not be “The Tesseract” but that’s what all the articles called it.

That is a PC case of an enjoyable aesthetic.

It wasn’t an artist’s randition, it was photos. And it wasn’t a case, it looked like a component. Or maybe an entire computer in one, like the Raspberry Pi? I don’t know, man, it was a cube, I’m not a scientist.

The pictures could’ve been just some prop or something. I don’t know. Both articles I remember used the same pictures. I remember several photos from various angles. It was a new thing less than a decade ago. So 2010s would be the decade. It was definitely new kind of physical structure, but I’m not sure about actual computing architecture as in software side.

Actually, that could be it. I remember reading something about improved latency and changes in physical computing architecture. I’m not 100% sure this is it, but it’s definitely close to what I remember.

Well, I did not do any LSD ever, so I don’t think that’s it either. Interesting story, though.

The SGI workstation looks nothing like the cube I’m talking about. It’s cube-like, I admit, but the Tesseract was a perfect cube, all sides even. It had different components on different sides, exposed circuitry.

How would it be a promotion? It looked nothing like it did in the MCU. It had circuits and other parts like a graphics card does, or a motherboard. The circuit board was a dark blue, I think.
Edit: Turns out I can’t read. I read your comment as “Maybe it was a promotion or altered reality (as in ARG)”. But no, I don’t think that is the case. It’s not like remembering a detail wrong, like with the Mandela Effect. I couldn’t just have imagined reading several articles on a product. That’s not how it works, I don’t think.

No, not the one from the Loki show… It was like a computer. I don’t remember exactly what it did, but there was a lot of hype around it. Well, maybe “a lot” is an over exaggeration, but there were news stories written about it. I remember reading at least two articles on two different sites.

No that’s not it. It was like a cube. The articles I read showed pictures of it being like a dark blue color. This is not what I am searching for. But thanks.
And I don’t use Google. I use DuckDuckGo and udm14.org

Dude… What? Who is RFK? What country are you from? I’m just sharing my perspective. This is why I do it, and why I don’t plan on stoping. It is a personal choice. You should go outside once in a while, talk to some real people with real problems. What you are talking about IS NOT REAL.
If you are dumb enough to start smoking because I do it, then you deserve what’s coming to you. I am not liable for other people’s stupidity. In fact, if there really are people dumb enough to start smoking because a random person on the internet said they do, they really should take up smoking. They should smoke five packs a day. Tobacco companies and funeral homes need to turn a profit too.
I never said smoking is healthy. From what I remember I deliberately called it “harmful”. I brought up the fact that I have a diploma to insist on the fact that I am educated enough to know what I am talking about. And what I am talking about is my personal health. This is not medical advice. At no point did I indicate it was. Just how far gone are you in your little world view to interpret it as such? Do you see hostility in everything? Do I seem hostile right now? I may be rude, but I have the best of intentions. I’m just not very good at talking to people. Because I thought words mean what they mean in the dictionary.
But sure, blame me personally for all smoking related deaths. Actually, feel free to blame me for everything bad that ever happened. If that’s what helps you sleep at night, be my guest.
And “your nonchalance definitely doesn’t end at a single comment on a forum” what does that even mean? Seriously, I do not understand. I mean, I guess I can be pretty nonchalant if I really try. But I thought I was anything but nonchalant. So I really don’t get it. Or is it that you’re saying I’m “casually cool”, but not in a good way, more as in cold? And yes, if that’s what you mean, I am pretty cold, I don’t really get the emotion stuff. But still, I feel that there’s a deeper implication there. Is it that you think I am a doctor? I am not a doctor. I am a medical professional, but not a doctor, and I never claimed to be a doctor. I studied in a medical school and passed, that should give at least some credibility to my claims. And my claims are: 1. I am a smoker. 2. I don’t really care about the impact smoking has on my health, as I only smoke a little. 3. I have a PC that needs cleaning.
Also, once again, this has nothing to do with the question posed.

I’m not arguing withg that. I never said it’s healthy. I never said it’s safe. I just explained my personal justification for keeping this habit. It’s not AS unhealthy if you do it only moderately. Can you people stop telling me how to live my life? It’s annoying af. And has nothing to do with the question that was asked.
In theme with your analogy, what you’re doing is butting in when two people are arguing over how to clean a room and saying “have you considered not getting it dirty or not having the building there at all?”

Do you really want to have a discussion about that? Because I am more than happy to explain my reasoning.
The biological body has the capacity to regenerate and self clean. If you live in a place with lots of smog, that’s the equivalant of smoking cigarettes. It’s like with any harmful thing, moderation is the key. If I smoke up to 5 cigarettes a day and live in a place with little to no smog, I’m much less likely to suffer adverse effects to my lungs and throat than not smoking at all and living in a place with lots of smog.
In addition, I suspect I have some genetic immunity. My great grandfather smoked more than a pack a day for decades, and he lived to like 95 years old.
Now, about the lung self-cleaning thing. As cells divide, new cells take their place, and old cells are either metabolised by the body or shed off like skin. Inside your lungs, tissue that’s damaged by smoking can be healed, as long as it isn’t too severe. Aside from that, lungs secrete mucus when irritated, which is then expelled along with the irritant (in most cases. Things like asbestos and fiberglass just stay in there). Through this natural process, the lungs clean themselves from the inside. As long as the rate of intake of the irritant does not exceed tha capacity for the lungs to expell that irritant, the situation doesn’t get worse.
That is my reasoning. Feel free to give me your take.

I’d like to hear it. Does it work for other addictions?

I studied medicine. I have a diploma. I know nothing about the tech accept that it’s made of metal and crystals and plastic. And it has lightning in it.

70 years is more than enough for me. Not planning to spend more with my physical body.
But thanks for the story. I’ll make sure to try and remember it.
Just as a clarification. How much did he smoke a day? Was it more than up to five cigs a day? Because that is my limit and has been for years. So I could have more than 70 years in me.

You know nothing about my situation. I can’t do that. If I could I would.
No problem. I’m a bit sensitive on getting insulted, since insults is how a certain person communicates with me. I was raised on being insulted, so finding an aggressive subtext in a normal statement isn’t a problem to me :)
And I’m like 90% sure the artifact has been identified: https://people.cs.pitt.edu/~zhangyt/research/micpro2017.pdf and https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.15577. Or if this isn’t the thing, it’s extremely close to the thing I remember.
But if you’re a fan of schizophrenic theories such as the famed Time Cube, I know just the place.
