That’s just capitalism. But yeah, they can just bailout since the concept of separate legal entities means that individual investors aren’t held responsible for corporate losses.

3.58 to 3.56 billion isn’t really significant because in the long term these sort of mega corporations can easily recover that many users.
But I like they’re getting covered in debt, though idk how far it is from collapse as these numbers don’t make much sense to me.
France is fast-tracking anti-protest laws infringing on freedom of speech not only complicit in but actively pushing for the Zionist genocide of Palestinians.
They’re legislating for protest against zionism to become criminal with jail sentences in France.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are some people losing their humanity in the age of AI?
18·10 days agoQuick facts:
- Slavery only ended 1-2 centuries back.
- Women didn’t have voting rights until the last century in the US.
- Gay marriage wasn’t recognized anywhere until 2001.
- We’ve had two unnecessary global wars, one with nukes going off.
Yeah, I’d say humans haven’t been very human for a good while now.
France isn’t doing enough of that lately with the fascist pro-genocide turn it’s taking lately.

28·10 days agoThey’ve been losing their humanity before AI was a thing.
Gay man here, yet to see any real evidence that being homophobic means you’re gay. Anecdotal accounts will be found, but that’s not compelling.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Other than money, what's something you would want an unlimited amount of?
1·1 month agoExcept technology will be used instead for the exact opposite — techno-fascism.
AI and technology at large are funded and developed by the corrupt elite abusing power and their position in the hierarchy, further entrenching the hierarchy and their ability to abuse it for their own interests.
Although it is possible for tech to be used for good, that is an idealistic outlook that’s unlikely to occur in reality (at least in the sense of it doing away with abuse of hierarchy).
I think that bureaucracy is inherently problematic (corrupt).
I’m fairly familiar with the notion of a direct democracy and can get behind it otherwise.

1·1 month agoThats kind of why I am skeptical of any communist movement that isn’t explicitly also anarchist (i.e. intending to destroy hierarchy). It leads to what you described

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Other than money, what's something you would want an unlimited amount of?
1·1 month agoWell I’m glad you can say that.
In my experience there are people who defend both China and “DPRK” as a communist paragon with reasoning that is although extensive dodges any real criticism of China (from either an external standpoint, or from within a communist pov).
It was my impression that such “tankies” are the primary base of communists (or common enough for it to be a problem), which pushed me away from it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Other than money, what's something you would want an unlimited amount of?
1·1 month agoIn practice, it isn’t, usually. None of the communist states extant today or historically had a decentralized system without hierarchies.

It’s a lot of people but big tech can easily get back those numbers.
Let’s see how the tendency unrolls over the long-term.
