It’s not the best and I’m not sure if they’re good but I use FotoGrid and Sketchbook. I also use noads.libredns.gr so that I wouldn’t be bombarded with ads on mobile, especially for FotoGrid.
I didn’t grow up on a PC, so I feel more comfortable editing images and making long-form content on a phone. I think it’s the social media on the phone that fucks me up

8·2 months agokitty!
I remember as a kid my mom used to scold me for being “arrogant” even though I had no intention of doing so. Apparently I was arrogant because I liked to talk about the interesting things I read in my books (had a talkative streak, probably the ADHD)
Felt this really hard as someone from the Philippines (which is currently having an education crisis) and whose intelligence was glazed too often lmao

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is Lemmy so prejudiced/hostile towards young people?English
7·3 months agoPeople always think the group they’re a part of can do no wrong. Like some middle class who think the upper class is bad for x and y thing but when they do the same to the lower class they think they’re justified, and of course they try to find ways to call themselves the most oppressed class because poor people get assistance while they only get taxed (despite the fact that after taxes they still achieve a far higher living standard than the lower class).

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•what is the most violent, reprehensible, sociopathic way to tie your shoes?English
8·3 months agoIdk man, but there are people who use their socks and shoes only once. Oh and some don’t really untie their shoes to put it on and then tie it, they just force their feet in. And when they’re done with it they force their feet out.

4·3 months agoLearning things I can actually use. I learned a lot of stuff that I can’t do anything about and I feel a sense of crushing hopelessness day by day, and it increases the more I know. But I don’t regret it. I regret all the times I was depressed and did nothing, not even learn about the things I could do, and feeling like I lost opportunities to do something meaningful.
I guess it depends on the cultivar? For example avocado cultivars in my country are more milder and sweeter while in America the avocado cultivars have a stronger taste.

2·3 months agoReturn to the level of intelligence? I think we just won’t be able to sustain the sophisticated complexity of our current systems in addition to the death of skilled professionals. Honestly, my only hope is in the book I have printed called How To Invent Everything and my other books about farming, food processing and weaving, then make the technologies that we can create and sustain for the betterment of any community that I find or adopts me. Then become a cult leader idk

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•As someone in stem who has never felt smarter than anyone how do you justify your sucess?English
1·3 months ago“Never got as good” is very very subjective though! I like Mozart’s music but popularity doesn’t always mean quality. There are albums made in the modern day that I love but are quite underappreciated by the general audience, for example… Not only that but Mozart started at a really young age that he was considered a prodigy, and his father was a composer who, after recognizing his talent, made him perform publicly and did tours then eventually performing for aristocrats, and he even started composing, and that was what consumed his childhood. Someone who “composed their whole lives” by the age of 20 to the extent that he did would be quite rare. Plus, nurture usually refers to being nurtured by a third party so why would it be about the composers not trying hard enough as if it is a personal failing? I guess those people who composed their whole lives technically didn’t try hard enough at 6 to start performing and touring across Europe to showcase their skill?
While I do not discount that nature does have a contribution, I usually would like to adress nurture first than nature. For example, the current illiteracy crisis that is gripping my country the Philippines is not because our people are inherently stupid, it’s because of a shitty education system, corruption issues and rampant poverty. The renovation that is being done to the library in our city hasn’t been finished for years! Also, I was quite lucky to have a mother who read and kept books around the house when I was very young, and also unlucky that my childhood forced me to use books as an escape and a coping mechanism because it was the only thing I had. Unfortunately some people higher up in Education would believe I am inherently smart or whatever for having C2 at CEFR at a young age or being able to beat the Spelling Bee against the more advanced sections when I came from the regular section (because of the subpar quality of education in the regular section).
Idk I have seen so many instances of people running to Nature instead of examining the Nurture and miss actual solutions to the detriment of so many people, so I have become embittered with Nature over Nurture. Oh and btw, the effect of matching the mode of instruction to your Learning Style is minimal to none when you look at the research! The actual effective style involves timely feedback and repetition as well as higher standards (education has lowered its standards over the years). See, that’s one example of a widely believed Nature over Nurture thing.
I apologize for the long rant, I have some strong feelings about education.

2·3 months agoBy believing that anyone with enough dedication can learn something, and that many of the greats (like Mozart) just had an early interest or were pressured in something so they had a headstart.
I remember someone said that you shouldn’t be disappointed in yourself for learning the speaking/reading ability of a 9 year old in 4 years because it took 9 years for a 9 year old to learn the language lmao

23·3 months agoI used to be bullied hard in elementary for being neurodivergent and “living under a rock”, and I did not know what was cool or uncool because I didn’t have WiFi at home. To illustrate how ridiculous it was, I got bullied for playing Minecraft to the point that if I left my redstone blueprints on my table they would crumple it, and whenever I ate vegetables they would say, “ew vegetables!!!”.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there some sort of public blacklist of known youtube channels made with AI?English
02·3 months agoExcept unlike emails who are the ones who are reaching out to you, you’re the one who would have to engage with the youtube accounts. And reading is faster than watching.
It’s rather annoying watching a video with an interesting premise from a channel that seems to have a lot of engagement and subscribers until you notice several minutes in that the content is full of filler and is generally just a waste of time, and of course when you check the channel is full of mass-generated videos. If there was a list we could just quickly check if something is already confirmed to be AI using the Find function rather than wasting time finding if it’s legit or not. Even if the list is just those of the well-known ones who you are more likely to come across.
If there was such a project I would gladly contribute.

Man, I’m pretty sure Local LLMs getting better and more efficient would be one of the reasons why the bubble’s gonna burst. It’s still very technical, though.
