I’m not in these devs heads, but I guess that’s the point. Providing something that’s real enough (as a toy model, you’re not going to clean room blender with this…) to get the discussion started and see what we can do against that kind of practice which will definitely become a real threat in the future if left unchecked.
At least I hope that’s the intention rather than “lulz”.
This website was made by two devs quite involved in the open source community. If you don’t want to call it satire, suit yourself I guess (though it does present a number of satirical elements, look at the company names in the success reports: “definitely real corp”, “profit first LLC”…) but this is definitely not an AI bro company, and more of a warning and reflection on possible consequences of LLMs on foss software.

Ratio r and first term a are fixed, exponent n varies. The sequence (u_n) does grow (or decrease) exponentially fast.
At least that’s what the English definition is, and in my first language as well. If there is one in which “geometric” means “power function”, I’d actually be curious to know.
