It is 100% meant to mismatch you to keep you on the app to make money. Start asking people who met people on apps and you quickly notice a pattern. The person they are with was not like any of the other people it matches you with. It’s not that hard to match people. They are betting that two people won’t compare their apps after they get together. I have watched three couples in the same room compare their apps with each other, with all three realizing it only works by mistake.

3·10 days agoI have worked with many printers and copiers. I found the small business laser jet Brother printers are by far the best. They just are a little big for an apartment. I would say HP is the worse, but I have worked with Konica Minoltas.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 11’s push for mandatory Microsoft accounts is hitting a nerve with users who say the change complicates setup, privacy, and basic PC ownershipEnglish
162·15 days agoEveryone is thinking about this wrong. MIcroslop will only do their enterprise customers dirty at the very end, when they are dropping the Windows product altogether. How do SysAdmins do Windows 11 installs at their workplace? How are we expected to provision PCs without a MS account. Select add to domain and use your router as a ‘fake’ DC and then set the settings back to normal after the install. They can not remove that method, it is absolutely required for using DCs and MS makes a shit load of money licensing DCs. You have to pay per user.
That is why it is a “cult classic”
I wish I could upvoye you more

2·18 days agoI would have been more concerned if the app didn’t send data to Palantir. For now they still have to trick people to be 100% tracked, soon they won’t need anything. When they can passively track us, we are fucked. All it takes is biometrics + identity(name, ssn, driver license) + location(from your active devices) and tracking in apps is not needed anymore.

5·23 days agoI have done a couple similar setups. Fun facts: cell towers have asymmetrical signal and if you are too close, your signal is bad. Those are hard ones to explain to farmers that have towers installed on their properties.

2·23 days agoI worked for an MSP that sold those products for all use cases. The Mikrotik home routers(with wifi) are the best you can buy, if you can figure them out. Most people run at least one Ubquity ap to get higher band radio coverage for their homes.

241·24 days agoThis reminds me that there are 1000s of SysAdmins that stumbled onto the Trumpstien emails. They were not hidding anything at all, that shit was setting flags off everywhere. The question is what happened next? Did the CIA show up at their door telling them they will put you in the ground if they have to and remind them that their Google employee NDA shuts thems up. Maybe the honeypot was so in-gained in Google that the emails were auto flagged as “part of an ongoing investigation” and IT just ignored them.
