Last I checked in with English, “to run through” or “ran through” when used in reference to a human or living thing means to butcher them with a sword or polearm while travelling quickly on foot or horse.
What about that says love?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can someone explain the Birds and the Bees to me? I get its related to sex somehow but was never told the story or where it got started or how come a bird and insect?
6·10 days agoMy interpretation has always been the association to spring, easter, and mating rituals. The “birds and bees” come out and everything wants to make babies.

I’d be interested to know if toast came before the end of the frequent consumption of stale bread.
Many of our recipes are based around using and eating stale bread, and in modern times require you to toast bread as most don’t keep bread that has gone stale.
If you think of things like French Onion Soup, that traditionally used stale bread, not toasted bread.
So I wonder if toasting was a way to compensate for not having stale bread, or if folks were in fact toasting bread long before the norms changed.

146·1 month agoMost of the medical information coming up these days is garbage and you should be going to a known, reputable site and searching their database. LLMs have been trained on absolute garbage. There is nothing of value being kept from anyone here.
