It seems to be highly dependant on culture, context and age. I feel like my generation (millennial) uses emoji the least, as we grew up with digital communication but without emoji. I basically use emoji in a similar way to you - sparingly and rarely more than 1 in a message. Younger and older generations both started using digital means of communication when emoji were already established though, and they tend to use them way more in my experience.
In regards to “wrong” interpretation of emoji, they can also have different established meanings for different cultures. 😪 for example is sometimes used to represent having a cold in the west, but in Asia it represents being sleepy (which is its intended meaning). Or 😉, which is considered suggestive/flirty in anglophone countries, but is used for making a lighthearted joke in Germany.

Then they can just use Tor or a VPN to access sites on the clearnet though.
Mate, the point is that they’re not talking cartoon anthropomorphic animals, like the characters in Zootopia are. Was that really not obvious or are you just in the mood to argue and insult some people for no reason?
I meant to write sapient, not sentient. Fixed.
Carnivores in Zootopia eat fish and insects, which are considered non-sapient, as well as plant-based food.

I know that those exist. So enlighten me, how do I download them without the launcher?

Steam allows DRM and even offers its own. You also can’t download anything without the launcher, even if the game is DRM-free.

Technically no, it still grants you a license like any other store. In practice it’s a bit closer to ownership than what you get with other stores, as GOG does not have the ability to take your games away once you have downloaded them and you can do whatever you want with the files. But you’re not legally allowed to sell your copy for example.
I think so too. We don’t really have conclusive studies yet on what microplastics do to our health, but we do know we have quite a lot of them inside our bodies. At the same time certain types of cancers are getting ever more common, and amongst younger people as well. Might not be connected, but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised.
You can pay for some things using crypto. For example, VPNs often offer that as a somewhat anonymous payment method. I’m pretty sure 99.9% of transactions are for trading and crime/scams though. The original idea of a decentralized payment system has pretty much faded into the background.

You can check here for lemmy.world, or other instances by using the same syntax.

Calling for OP’s death over that fantasy is way more shitty though. And the moderators left that up.

Crime Scene Cleaner (Der Tatortreiniger) is pretty great.

Earmuffs like these maybe? For people with autism who are sensitive to noise.

Applying that logic, it seems to me like you can’t ever use money for anything. What if that open-source project you donated to goes paid? What if the friendly corner store owner turns his store into a billion dollar chain?

The Japanese got it right: Just number them. First month, second month etc.

You probably had a faulty DVD burner then. I did it within the last year, using my modern computer and a cheap external drive.
Sure, I’ve had both good and bad experiences. The contractors putting a new heating system into my house did quite a good job for example. They even took the time to explain to me how to do some troubleshooting myself if there are any issues.
On the other end of the spectrum are the people who were supposed to put solar panels on my roof, as they decided that they didn’t like my roof when they were about a quarter of the way done (no panels installed) but still wanted me to pay like 3000€. Did not end up having to pay anything, but only after threatening with a lawyer.
