If the car looks like that, he can’t be dancing away, can he? Man, adrenaline is one hell of a thing

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else have a read-only feed? Is that just me, or am I on the wrong Lemmy client/instance?🤔
6·7 days agoWhat do you mean a read-only feed?
SATW is a classic, and excellent. https://satwcomic.com/

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who do you hope is secretly funding your favorite streamer?
5·10 days agoI don’t think there’s any secret funding scheme that I would think is good. If it’s secret, there must be something sinister about it, no?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s the youngest and oldest you’d date?
2·13 days agoGeneralizations like this are useless. Obviously there are exceptions. There certainly are people who retain a sharp mind into old age and even past age 100. It’s not that uncommon. If he also kept his body in good shape, it’s easy to believe he can still drive as well as anyone half his age.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You can eat ONE inedible thing of your choice. What's for dinner?
7·13 days agoOne of the non-cakes on Is It Cake. I will claim victory by any means necessary!
I get that feeling from 90% of this artist’s comics, but this one actually made me chuckle. More importantly, I shared it with my mom and it made her chuckle. She is not as accepting of LGBT+ as one might hope, so this was not a given.
It has all the elements of a joke, most importantly subversion of expectations. I’ll give this one a pass. Save your rant for the next comic ;)
I’m not 100% sure, but I think it’s a coffee machine with the coffee blasphemously being poured into a bowl instead of a mug.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What would the next pres of USA have to do to gain back trust for America? Hold a televised event saying the last person was just a fuck up?
4·15 days agoAnd here I am, stuck living in the one country in the world that’s only getting closer to the US: Israel. I pray that by the end of the next decade or three, when the dust settles, we’ll be closer to Europe instead, as we’ve been in the past. But that seems practically impossible.
Sigh maybe I’ll move to Europe. I’d probably fit in better culturally.
Try Caleb’s approach for this sort of thing. “Are you a
cannibalman?” “Well, that’s not how I would define myself. If we’re going by what I’m most passionate about, I would say that I’m a woodworker.”
Yeah, I can’t see anything else either.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why don't cards from one's home country work at foreign app stores, steam or the PS store?
2·16 days agoI have no personal experience with this, just stuff I’ve heard online and from friends. I may well have some details wrong, but the truth is I’ve always been able to use my Visa credit card for any online shop from any country, including ones which Americans were having trouble with.
I think some shops (and maybe countries) which have a strong trade/tourism relationship with USA will just go out of their way to support American “non-international” cards. Whether that is the case for you in New Zealand, I can’t say.
I don’t have much stake here and I admit I could have gotten something wrong.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why don't cards from one's home country work at foreign app stores, steam or the PS store?
61·16 days agoThis is a common misunderstanding that Americans have. The truth is that American banks issue domestic-only cards that cannot be used outside of the USA. You can get an international credit card and it works everywhere.
In most other countries, certainly where I live (Israel), all credit cards are intentional by default and they work wherever you go in the world.
So the truth is that, as is often the case, USA with American exceptionalism has created an incompatible system to everyone else, and then suffers the consequences.
Not me: I don’t understand what is being said here, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. What is this comic trying to say? I really can’t figure out a cohesive statement.

It’s an island with a tribe of people who have no contact with the rest of the world.

Do they pour the coffee from one mug to the next for each sip, or are they drinking 3 coffees each just to hold a conversation?
