That’s it. And now I see that the southern tip of south america is cape horn. So we have cape horn, cape of good hope, and the horn of africa… couldn’t they be just a little bit more original on the horns…

I thought the horn was the southern tip of Africa. If it’s that eastern thing, what is the southern tip?

I knew there was fighting in north africa. (American here) But not sure how I knew. I don’t recall hearing much about it in school. But fighting china? I gotta say, I never heard much about china other than how badly the Japanese soldiers treated the chinese.

Yeah, but they usually trace back to money one way or another.

But they seem to have sooo much money. They have their money in soo many countries politics. How is that much tax payer money getting redirected to them? There must be some kind of front at least that is getting massively overpaid.

Similar question, where do they get so much money to impact american politics with? What does Isreal export so much of?

Oh yeah, they do. But a mac keyboard on a pc… thats the hiccup. Cause mac doesn’t use printscreen.

Yeah, macs don’t have a printscreen normally. And I can’t find an equivalent. I use greenshot. The win shift s launchs the snipping tool. It’s also an uncomfortable short cut.
I mean, I can give greenshot a different hot key. So I’m really just whining. Lol

I have a mac one for work. But I also use it for my pc. Where the heck is the printscreen button. I probably need the higher end one I guess.

Omg, that was 2006? Feels like just a few years ago.

I always say that if you rely on metrics (like does the applicant have a degree or not), you will get people who have optimized for just the metric. It’s a lot like paying programs for the bugs they fix. It just doesn’t go the way you planned.
It’s getting better, but you have two factors. One a large portion of men with kids were raised by their mothers, so they don’t know another way. That is shifting though. The other is that American women tend to be more competitive or something. Part of the capitalist society type competitive. People still see the kids as Moms job, so if the kids aren’t dressed right or whatever, it’s Mom’s fault. Pair that with the extra competitiveness and plenty of ladies don’t trust their man tomanage things. And because the Man isn’t going to be judged, he doesn’t have as high a bar for perfection, which just amplifys things.
Like I get my son dressed in the morning. And my wife will often reject my choices. Now I have no fashion sense at all, so she isn’t wrong or anything. If people wouldn’t judge her on my choices, she could relax.
Another thing is I handle all the medical and school stuff. But they all still call Mom first. I’ve had to remove her number in some cases. So even a guy who is trying gets undercut.
It’s all very messed up.
Video games while the kid watches from a bumbo chair of course.
I’m responding to a comment talking about donating to get a degree. That pretty much narrows it down to for profit universities, doesn’t it?
I think the degree is really more like evidence that you can get things done on your own. Parental involvement in the day to day is near zero for most people getting a degree. They also learn valuable social skills. But a degree isn’t the only way to get that. So it shouldn’t be a requirement. Yet attempting to determine if someone without a degree has that is costly and time consuming. Companies just want to take the easy path.
Forget “because daddy donated…”. The degree isn’t about being smart or not, it’s about being able to play in the system. The schools are for profit businesses. They know they can graduate a certain % of idiots and not hurt thier profit line. So they do. And the number is disturbingly high. You don’t need to donate money to get a degree as an idiot.
I don’t see the post as disagreeing with you.
The graphic alone is pointing out what you are saying. Skills alone doesn’t get noticed. So you need a degree to be seen, which gets you a job, which reduces stress, which makes you happy.
But it is sad that it is true. I favor getting a degree, not for the education, but for the 4 years of experience living on ones own and having to handle life that it gives most people. It is also often an important social education. But I don’t like the idea of excluding those who don’t have a degree just because they don’t.

That was worth every second it took to read.
For number 3 and the slip ring. I have always thought, just make the stuff on the end self sufficient. Essentially make two spacecraft. One to run all the experiments in zero ish g. And the other to be like living quarters. You can even make them suit up to commute. But you would need one heck of a long arm to make the 2 palatable. Maybe 3 craft, two way the hell out there attached to some crazy long tethers. One in the middle. Then some kind of speed sled thing to get a person from the outside in or something. Probably need to worry about balancing out the change of weight due to the sled (and person) moving from outside in and such.
You can omitt the “about ww2” and still be right.
