I got a vasectomy because I don’t want kids. Unfortunately, when I got home, they were still there.
(I’m kidding, I love my kids. But I definitely don’t want any more)
My own head is capable of moving enough that my showerhead doesn’t need to…
I sit in an office all day, not much filth. But yeah, if I go for a bike ride and get all sweaty, I’ll shower after, but then I’ll usually forgo the next morning’s shower… only usually, because morning shower helps me wake up.

2·11 days agoBe less of an asshole, it’s free. I’ve been sniffing packets from cable modems since the 90s. I even remember the mac address of my first network card - 00a0cc52cac7, because mediaone gave out persistent hostnames based on your mac address before they were bought by at&t. I once putty’d into my machine from Katmandu just because I could. Incidentally, when I called at&t support to find out if this would continue, their support rep had no idea what I was talking about, and after I mentioned mac addresses, he suggested I call apple.

12·12 days agoEvery broadband connection I’ve had looks at the mac address of whatever is behind the modem, the modem essentially passes it through.

I mean, if my experience is any indication, she won’t listen… But then again, it turns out my wife was passive aggressively trying to get me to leave her for years but I was too oblivious to get her hints…
Not that easy - changing the rules generally requires a vote to the homeowners, not just the board, and usually requires a minimum amount of participation (like a majority have to approve, regardless of how many(few) vote).
I don’t consider it authoritarian to not want my next door neighbor to turn their front lawn into a junkyard.
That is authoritarian, regardless of how reasonable the desire is. If the only thing keeping your neighbor from turning their front yard into a junkyard is a threat of force, is that a relationship worth preserving?
Ring doorbell camera can’t be “pointed”, it screws to a flat surface, presumably the doorway. That said, they have a pretty wide field of view.
In US we call that a housing cooperative, that’s different, because the co-op owns the building(s), then people own shares in the co-op. An HOA generally only owns (and maintains) the common areas, then individuals own their own building, but sometimes there aren’t any common areas, then you’re just paying the HOA for the privilege of being subject to their extra rules. Co-ops are rare, and harder to finance (since you don’t own something that can be foreclosed on)
Seems like it should be possible to introduce crab grass to his lawn…

Technology@lemmy.world•Device that can extract 1,000 liters of clean water a day from desert air revealed by 2025 Nobel Prize winnerEnglish
1·1 month agoI live in Phoenix. When I first moved here, I lived in a shitty apartment that didn’t maintain my air conditioning, and the condenser drain clogged and started leaking, so I had to put out buckets to catch the water. I could easily squeeze a gallon out of the air in a few hours, and that was just a 750 sqft apartment…

2·1 month ago“relative humidity” is the percentage of water the air holds relative to how much it could hold, which varies by temperature. It can’t go negative, though it can go over 100%.

1·1 month agoI grew up in Boston, I’ve lived in Phoenix for the last 25 years… I think you have that backwards, at least that’s been my experience.
That right there is you being an asshole. If that’s who you are, that’s fine, but at least be honest about it. I know I’m an asshole, so you’re not hurting my feelings any by turning it back on me.
If you would like to not be an asshole, a good start would be to accept that you don’t know everything, and just because your experience differs from mine doesn’t mean I’m wrong. It’s fully possible what I observed between 30 and 15 years ago was unusual, or maybe it was common then but isn’t now- and if you had led with that, I might have conceded that you may at least have more current knowledge than I. It’s also possible I didn’t explain myself clearly enough, and we’re just misunderstanding each other- a layer 8 problem, if you will.
Well, considering I was seeing arp packets from mac addresses of every other machine on my segment pretty much continuously, what conclusion would you come to?
