211·3 months agoIt is possible to build an age verification system, where you use your actual ID with a cryptographic process without any personal data. The technology has existed for decades now.

Easier to dominate.
This is very bad advice for cold weather.
Washing hands is overrated. It only leads to a weaker immune system.

32·3 months agoSure. Lots of fiction, especially TV stick to well established tropes, regardless of a human writing it or not.

42·3 months agoYou can improve the novel writing by using agents. First you generate just an outline with the plot points to every chapter. Then you chop that up and feed it to several agents to flesh out individual chapters. Finally the generated chapters are verified against the outline and overall plot. If that doesn’t fit, the agents are tasked with a rewrite. Repeat that until you have something serviceable.
As you point out, there exists plenty of bad writing in TV series. These often have a number of different authors, who don’t necessarily know the other episodes very well.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I am an amateur propagandist. A hobbyist. Enthusiast, if you will.English
71·3 months agoOne of Netanyahu’s sons was a press officer behind the lines, but the other was with combat intelligence at the front.
Israel is different in this regard. Everybody serves in the army. It’s also a small country. The military Is closely woven into society. The IDF is not a professional army, but mostly made up of reservists who are called up as needed. That means the political leaders will know people personally who have to fight.
What unit you serve in can make a big difference for your later success in life. Combat units, special forces, Air Force, and intelligence have the highest prestige.
Politicians benefit immensely in their credibility, if they have a distinct military career.
Valid. Employers want people they hire to do as they are told.
The qualification is social proof, that you’re from at least middle class background. Meaning you have a little manners and know social codes.
There are many nice and FOSS GUIs for the tasks ffmpeg is usually used for.
Handbrake is a great example for macOS, windows, Linux.
For more advanced video compression Shutter Encoder is fantastic.
Good old AVIDemux has a few other cool features as well, like cutting without reencoding.
There are also a bunch of straight up ffmpeg front ends as well.
Why do people use those shitty websites?
They show up as a fast and easy option without having to research, download, install, and learn to use a more complicated application.

More national diversity. Lemmy is dominated by Americans and Germans, then a handful of worldwide Anglosphere, and Europeans. Asians, Middle Easterners, Africans, Latin Americans, Indians, etc. are practically nonexistent.
Spirituality and religion are barely talked about.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I’m not saying that I agree with right- or center-wing views, and I do condemn transphobia. However, do you think there should be a distinction between critiquing beliefs of transgender people and theEnglish
01·5 months agoMost children and teenagers with gender dysphoria grow out of it on their own. Giving children and teens easy access to strong drugs that will affect their whole future life, is something that should be questioned. Children know little, struggle to find their identity, are easily influenced, and often make stupid decisions. Societal roles help children orient and find their way around the world. How can we expect a child to understand something as complex as gender fully to make an informed decision?
Gender dysphoria rarely comes alone, usually it’s comorbid with a bunch of other psychological issues. Then transition is often presented as the one treatment that will fix everything. It often fails to do that.
Trans issues are mental health issues. They have been politicized by making it about identity and attaching it to the political struggle of gay and bi people. No other mental health issue has that kind of political clout and rigid ideology attached to it. The political activism has glued itself to radical ideas.
Scientific research into trans issues has become difficult to conduct, because if you have the „wrong“ results, you might not have a career and be labeled transphobic. In the end it’s trans people themselves who suffer the most from this.
Helping people live a healthy and fulfilling life should be the goal. If someone transitioning is the only thing that helps someone, then by all means go for it.

01·5 months agoSomething you haven’t mentioned is talking about the way medical treatment is practiced, access to gender affirming care, etc.
As you notice from your votes at -9, this is a radioactive topic.
Only if you support free access to medical transition, and promotion of self chosen identities, you might escape accusations of transphobia. Even asking for the scientific foundations this rests on, can get you in trouble quickly.
Mentioning what detransitioners say is risky as well. They are worth listening to.
There are real issues surrounding this topic, but they are hard to address because of the stark political divide. Trans issues are used as a political shibboleth and not as a psychological-medical issue.
