Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability.
11·4 days agoPSX games had saves on memory cards, the generation of consoles before that often didn’t.
I have a bunch of consoles around from that era. My oldest systems are 8bit Master System. If saving was an option, it was you writing down a code in between levels.

4·7 days agoDesktop Linux may not be mainstream, but it’s solid. Mobile Linux not so much. I bought the pinephone hoping it would be a first class citizen, but it’s fairly underwhelming, even after all this time. UBPorts has it listed as 68% supported, it and other OSes lack useful app ecosystems.

In Dutch, a T is sometimes pronounced S
Politie (police) is pronounced polisie for example
In the word politiek (politics) it remains a T sound
Democratie -> democrasie
Etcetera
Kodi connects to the share via IP though. I’m not sure how the device checks if it has any connection, but it’s assessing it wrong.

Technology@lemmy.world•Iran includes American tech giants on list of new targetsEnglish
43·26 days agoRussia had some reputation of being a large and powerful army, but as soon as they attacked Ukraine it showed the world it actually had shit. It basically lost its credibility of being a world power because their arsenal is old fashioned and they were just throwing in bodies.
I feel the US is going through the same. Everyone saw them as an undefeatable nation, but this little stint in Iran had their stockpiles dropping faster than expected and it’s not going as they expected. Hegseth and Trump contradict each other and besides squandering their soft power over the past years, they are also showing that their military might has limits.
They are both still to be reckoned with and they are capable of doing great harm to innocent bystanders, but my view has changed a bit.

4·1 month agoPlease add _nomap to the end of your SSID (the name of your wifi network) if you don’t want Google to use it in their tracking mechanisms.
Please add _optout anywhere in your SSID if you don’t want Microsoft to use it in their tracking mechanisms.
If your SSID is Network change it to Network_optout_nomap
Ridiculous as fuck, but that’s what they came up with. I have no idea what other services use to block their Wifi collectors, but these 2 are very prominent anyway.

4·1 month agoI have love for this machine. It has a 6W TDP CPU and 16GB LPDDR3. Unfortunately the CPU is soldered to the board. Recently added a PCI expansion for 1 extra SATA slot for an extra disk. Works great, but it’s pretty much maxed out now. Gonna hold onto this for as long as it goes.
