Technology@lemmy.world•Canada wants to join the age verification bandwagon and censor the internet with Bill C-34English
21·4 hours agoYou fell for their “won’t somebody think of the children?!” propaganda hook, line, and sinker. If they want suckers to let them overreach they just throw out terrorism or children as the reasons and people like you get in line instantly.
It’s not about children. It never was. It’s about getting a mandatory digital ID, where you have zero anonymity on the internet so they can keep you in line by threat of ruining your life and throwing you in jail.

34·4 hours agoAll the left wing “progressive” WEF-aligned governments falling into line with fascist, authoritarianism while their supporters hilariously call the other side fascists and Nazis 🤣
This is what “progressives” calling for censorship of opposing views leads to. I got Canadians like going to jail for criticising their government, because that’s where this leads.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•what will happen to all the datacenters when the bubble bursts?
11·2 days agoYes, they are doing it wrong. AI is a tool for employees to use. It’s not an employee.
You don’t get AI to independently run a business, and anyone stupid enough to think you can or should do that should be nowhere near AI.

5·4 days agoThere’s no software or games problem on Xbox. It gets 99% of all the games the PlayStation 5 does, and most of them play and look better unless you’ve got a PS5 pro.

1·8 days agoThere are no means for the rest of us to restric smartphone owners from filming whenever they want, are there? Should all people carrying a phone be treated as if they’re doing it all the time too?
Look, at the end of the day if you’re in public you can’t control other people being able to see you or take photos/videos of you. There are already laws around filing in private areas of public places, so nothing really needs to change.

4·9 days agoYou read that wrong. They didn’t say there are sales, as in discounts, available. They said they’re getting sales, ie selling every unit they produce, even with the price increase.

3·9 days agoCalling the switch “niche” when comparing it to a steam deck or other handhelds is hilarious. The switch 2 outsold the steam decks entire lifetime sales on release day. I say lifetime as in not just how many it had sold up til then, but how many more it will sell in the future too lol.

5·9 days agoUnfortunately game console price drops are pretty much gone for the foreseeable future and have been since we started getting to the 7nm-ish node sizes.
The main reason for price cuts in the PS3/360 era and earlier was technological advancement in terms of shrinking the node. This gave instant massive price reductions to the company, and allowed them to then redesign the console to be much smaller with less cooling since the chips now are smaller and generated way less heat.
That doesn’t happen anymore. There’s no shrinking to be done.
When you add in the cost increases for RAM and SSDs, it’s a match made in hell for customers.

4·9 days agoOLED costs more than LCD, significantly so, so to keep costs down they used LCD. Pretty simple really. OLED also has various issues that LCD doesn’t have that mean it won’t last anywhere near as long as an LCD screen does.
I love OLED screens, but after my $3k LG OLED tv started showing the PUBG UI every time there was red on the screen where the UI was, I’ve switched back to LCD for gaming and am not regretting it.

A creep using them to record in a bathroom would be illegal, light bypassed or not.
I’m not sure if you’ve realised, but creeps have been finding ways to film women and girls illegally for as long as there have been ways to film women and girls. That doesn’t make everyone taking photos and videos in public a creep like you pretend it does.

Mate….the fascists won the election. How can they push these laws and you still can’t see that?
The people who been calling everyone else fascists are the same people who have been begging every social media site, forum, and company for MORE CENSORSHIP for the last 5+ years. You wanted this because you thought it would only harm people you disagree with. You thought wrong.
