To most people, “Real American” doesn’t mean the working man. It means the capitalist behind him.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your hot takes on food culture?
9·11 days agoI don’t entirely disagree. But the thing about tradition is, it’s done the same way every time. I’m more likely to trust the person who has done a thing their whole life and learned from their parents rather than someone who started last week.
But I’d prefer either of them over mass-produced versions.

7·11 days agoThat tells me there was something wrong with the rosé, honestly.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are your hot takes on food culture?
5·11 days agoNot the person you’re replying to, but for me, a burger that’s actually got depth to it and seared properly holds the flavor better than something that’s been crushed and nearly burned.
So they started as heroes and they’re still cool.
Maybe the Principality of Sealand.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Finally someone we can get behind!
223·18 days agoif the answer isn’t “blockade it and seize every non-US vessel until we get what we want, and keep up a bombardment campaign the like of which the world has never dreamed”, it’s not going to be a long term solution.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When countries around the world start enforcing biometrics and digital passports for travel, would you still do traveling or just hide in some farm off grid?
1·19 days agoI might have to renounce due to a feeling of decency, tbh. And there’s no country on earth except maybe Liberaland or Sealand I’m okay with.

11·19 days agoI’m not going to be traveling again. And if birthright citizenship is revoked, I’ll end up stateless.

Technology@lemmy.world•Sycophantic behavior in AI affects us all, say researchers
10·24 days agoYes, because it was designed to appeal to “people” (executives, the rich, and all the other guillotine fodder) who are used to always being told that they’re right.

153·1 month agoNo, $400 is about $300 more than any phone could ever be worth.

Technology@lemmy.world•GrapheneOS refuses to comply with new age verification laws for operating systems — group says it will never require personal information
37·1 month agoThat’s what it is then.I just don’t want to deal with the arbitrary nonsense like age-verification and software install limitations. Then again, I only have a phone at all because of my wife. If it were just me, I’d just keep a featurephone in a drawer and maybe check that it’s charged once a month. As it stands, I may end up having to give up the small amount of morality I have and just give up on Android and pay a ridiculous amount of money just for phone service.
House and CJ, thanks. Both of them basically just want to chill. But frankly with the way that plane is going to be, I’d leave the airport and take a train or a bus.

113·1 month agoPixel is the brand name from DoubleClick. I’ve got no interest. Plus, it’s a pain to put them on Tracfone, so I’ve got net-negative interest.

311·1 month agoI’m not interested in using anything with DoubleClick’s hooks in it. I’m happy with my $30 Tracfone for most of the features it offers.

I don’t care about the minimum. I care about the maximum earnings allowed annually.
