“The Jews could have prevented the holocaust if they’d just played devil’s advocate a little harder” is one of the most morally reprehensible takes I’ve ever seen in an online space, and one I simply cannot believe anyone can make in good faith.

Then you know better than most that there is enough darkness in this world, and no need for you to write more of it

I don’t mind people moving content from Reddit to the threadiverse. I do mind posting titles that claim authorship of a post when you are reposting someone else’s content. I am mildly opposed to including links to the original reddit post when reposting from reddit, but I wouldn’t ask a mod to enforce that preference cuz you’ve got stuff to do. Just my two cents; it’s whatever the community wants and you’re willing to do.

By repeating those claims you are perpetuating those harms, regardless of what you “really believe.”

Their mentality is wrong, and being lgbt neither needs preventing nor curing.

I think this is a relatively new phenomenon. I think previously, folks mostly did their best to make sure their kids had it better than they did, and had a belief the future would be better than the past, so they believed their generation had it worse than everyone younger.

I’m not certain that spending time on networks that are “void of lgbt, void of the trans” is the doctor that these people need to cure them of their transphobia and homophobia.

I’m rather proud of how well we’ve done avoiding most of these. The threadiverse is interesting because of how different it is from the rest of the fediverse. It feels like most of mastodon left Twitter because they were tired of how toxic it was, most bookwyrm users left goodreads because it got to corporate, most pixelfed users left insta because they hate meta, loops left TikTok because of the US takeover etc. But here in the threadiverse it can sometimes feels like we spend a lot of time rehabilitating people who got kicked off Reddit for being too toxic, and I’m rather proud of us that it’s mostly a usable and pleasant experience, in particular because I attribute it to a lot of the oldheads being patient about helping people remember how to be people, rather than just another Reddit bot.

I split up my communities pretty fine-grained: !reign_fc@lemmy.world for my club, !nwsl@lemmy.world for my league, !ussoccer@lemmy.world for my international side, etc. At the time, we thought the glorious revolution was just days away, and we’d have a gajillion users and we needed to be ready. In hindsight, I regret this decision and wish I had just created a single overarching woso community for everything — like !womenshockey@reddthat.com. There just aren’t a lot of users, and having a fewer, more broadly focused communities allow for larger user bases that interact with each other more often. So, if it were me, I’d post to c/music and try my best to feel comfortable taking up space.
“The work is mysterious and important.”

You can, to a certain extent. Consider:
I woke up late, again. Washed my face. Pulled on a threadbare pair of socks — suppose it’s time to do some mending; toe is visible. Poured a cup of coffee, sour from standing in the urn all day and night, though it didn’t bother, really. Grabbed a bagel from the basket — mold. Guess it’s time to hit the bakery. Or the grocery, possibly, but…
edit: if you want to see a more accomplished author than I resist the first person pronoun, I would recommend the novel The Unnameable by Samuel Beckett.

I would quote Paradise Lost by Milton to express this sentiment: “The mind is its own place, and in it self / Can make a Heav’n of Hell, a Hell of Heav’n.”
Hannah works as a third-grade teacher and refuses to give 100% on any assignment to any of her students because “only Jesus was perfect.”

Instance gossip always reminds me of Mean Girls

I’m not sure a ban was necessary; it’s pretty clear Clavicular doesn’t have the mechanical skill to reliably exploit the glitch.

This, and also it’s okay to go a little crazy, as a treat. Get like, an unhealthy obsession with sea turtles or really into witchcraft or something. We went a little crazy about making sourdough during the pandemic and it was kinda nice.

Dragonite – I love his derpy little wings.

Right now it’s the middle of the night in the US, so I reckon most folks is sleepin.
It’s kinda lame how few black folks there are in the pnw generally. I support the hell outta y’all; do whatever makes you happy.
