  • I don’t mind people moving content from Reddit to the threadiverse. I do mind posting titles that claim authorship of a post when you are reposting someone else’s content. I am mildly opposed to including links to the original reddit post when reposting from reddit, but I wouldn’t ask a mod to enforce that preference cuz you’ve got stuff to do. Just my two cents; it’s whatever the community wants and you’re willing to do.

  • I’m rather proud of how well we’ve done avoiding most of these. The threadiverse is interesting because of how different it is from the rest of the fediverse. It feels like most of mastodon left Twitter because they were tired of how toxic it was, most bookwyrm users left goodreads because it got to corporate, most pixelfed users left insta because they hate meta, loops left TikTok because of the US takeover etc. But here in the threadiverse it can sometimes feels like we spend a lot of time rehabilitating people who got kicked off Reddit for being too toxic, and I’m rather proud of us that it’s mostly a usable and pleasant experience, in particular because I attribute it to a lot of the oldheads being patient about helping people remember how to be people, rather than just another Reddit bot.

  • You can, to a certain extent. Consider:

I woke up late, again. Washed my face. Pulled on a threadbare pair of socks — suppose it’s time to do some mending; toe is visible. Poured a cup of coffee, sour from standing in the urn all day and night, though it didn’t bother, really. Grabbed a bagel from the basket — mold. Guess it’s time to hit the bakery. Or the grocery, possibly, but…

edit: if you want to see a more accomplished author than I resist the first person pronoun, I would recommend the novel The Unnameable by Samuel Beckett.
