Not everyone enjoys the same things and that’s ok. I’d rather rip out my own fingernails than spend any time with “ai chat” shrug

The counting systems were always bullshit. Different people and at different times have wildly different speech tempo. What you can do is trying to find your rhythm by actually saying a word repeatedly as fast as you can without mispronouncing and counting how often you can do that in a minute; That’ll give you a fairly accurate measure you can use.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What happens if someone refuses to work in a socialist economy?
7·2 months agoYou get thrown into Jail as an “anti-social element” (There’s an important distinction between “unable to work” and “unwilling to work”, both meaning “work” as in “contributing labor to the well-being of your fellow humans”). Also: You clearly don’t know anything about socialism beyond right-wing delusions.

4·2 months agoI agree, but then I’m one of those really hardcore libre-software-only nutcases ;-)
EDIT: Though, to be fair, the Trident Missiles they carry are US-made, too, so…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•(serious) What would we be losing in a world where most people didn't own a car? Please read the OP before posting.
5·3 months agoAs an autistic person that can barely cope with public transport (which is good in europe, obviously) and the associated density of humans without having a complete meltdown on a good day, a car greatly increases my mobility and quality of life. Not having one would also mean an increased frequency of grocery shopping (which, again, is quite a challenge most of the time, hence I try to go as rarely as possible) because neither an e-bike nor public transport offer the same carrying capacity. I could likely make do with a cargo bike, but I’d still have to relocate into a more densely populated area to have all the different shops I need (yes, I’m “picky” about what food is safe, what clothes I can bear, etc.) in bike-able distance, which would cost more money for housing and mental energy (“spoons”) to handle the increased population around me. Plus it’d cost a lot of extra time. As much as I’d prefer a car-less world in theory, it’s simply a fact that it’s an assistive technology for me, just like noise-canceling headphones are. I do hope we can move over to decent electrical cars though, no reason to run on fossil fuels (other than cost of the vehicles, and that is rapidly coming down).
My downvote stays; That is an absolutely atrocious title for it.
