Cosplaying to be anti “American Tech”, then kissing the empire hand for blessing.

This is called “neoliberal euro syndrome”.

We thought the USA were the good guys, it takes some time to adjust and elect new representatives.

Nah that’s gone. It will take generation(s) to become a normal country we trust like a normal country. They really had it all; wealth, soft power, hard power, respect, trust, people saw up to them, wanted to be like them, and they just set it on fire, repeatedly, while dumping manure everywhere.

        Amazing.

If history is any indicator, it will take one and a half generations of relative stability and everyone that matters will have forgotten. Probably there will be lingering, mostly misplaced bigotry (especially if there is nothing in the way of reparations) but there’s too much potential in the resources (markets, raw materials, laborers, tourism, etc) here to stay sidelined for long. Look at Germany, the UK, China, Japan, Italy, or Belgium. Colonialism, screwing allies, even outright genocide is papered over as soon as the populace blinks to keep things moving.

Or there’s the Bad Ending where far-right movements control more of the world and we’re a successful part of the new Axis powers.

Hmm, maybe nitpicking but we haven’t forgotten the atrocities, but we don’t believe in hereditary sin, so yeah I’m not walking up to a Belgian and start to harass him lol. While I still do know what happened in history I’m not blaming todays people for what happened when they weren’t even born. If that makes sense.

What do you mean? We have the least corrupt governments in the world here in Europe. Sure, shit happens from time to time, but just look at Orbàn!

I hate this “both sides are bad”, “everything is bad”, it’s just playing to the Kremlin playbook.

As a Swede, I just notice people brush corruption under the rug because what they’re doing can’t possibly be corruption. We’re Sweden, we’re not corrupt. So even though they act corrupt, it can’t be corruption. A very infallible logical stance I see way too often here.

It’s always important to fight corruption!

I grew up in sweden (tjänna tjänna!) and it was so 0% corrupt it was wild to go and live in another country.

Sweden is still extremely not corrupt today too (6th place in the world).

That doesn’t mean there isn’t any though, there is still plenty here. That statistic seem to mostly exist as a weapon to be used against people calling it out.

Ha ha so funny, a let me Google that for you. You really outdid yourself this time.

Did you assume everyone is American?

Because if you think a little bit (or a lot depending how fast you are) you can figure out on which continent I live!!

I know it can be hard so here is a hint: it is not America!
