I mean, “because of AI bots” is technically correct, but it’s more because they want to control the sale of their own users’ data rather than letting other bots scrape to sell.
That also means there’s a strong incentive for the remaining human users with two brain cells to rub together to not provide anything for the scaping bots to use. Certainly not for free.
