    You have never experienced static electricity discharge? There is a reason grounding straps are used in electronics laboratories. Surely you have played with a van der graaf generator before.

    In the risk/reward area of things, the downside of grounding is minimal to none, the upside is it might help, and it costs nothing to do. <shrug>

      Yes, the reason is that tiny transistors in microelectronics get damaged or burn out from the static shock. Last time I checked, I was not a transistor.
