    Try to find an appointment with a doctor or administration in August and you’ll see that it’s not too far off.

      Like every country where corporations don’t run the government. There are less service industry workers available during the peak summer months as they go on vacation like normal people. The whole country isn’t closed though, you just have to be patient and be pleased they have that right to do so - it’s a sign of a people-focused economy.

        If you think for one second that corporations don’t run the government in France, then tell that to the gendarmerie, who are as we speak posted all over my area in order to protect the construction of a new highway that nobody wants. Oh, and the highway isn’t free to use, either. After all, how else would the company building it pay to put it there?

        “Be patient” meaning “wait until september” which effectively means that things basically shut down during august.

        Also there’s no such thing as a norm of going on vacation in summer, this is just from people getting influenced by what they’re told and not a magical natural instinct to synchronize vacation times.

          To answer your first point, no, just slower due to staff shortages. That’s not closure, it’s staff shortages.

          “No such thing as a norm of going on vacation in summer” is the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a while. It’s summer! It’s literally the best time to go on holiday as it’s warmer and it’s school holidays so it makes sense for most people. Now I have a question…are you a USian? I ask because “lack of vacation” is a very US thing for many and you might just be thinking your life is the norm everywhere whereas, for those in civilised countries, it isn’t.
