Something doesn’t have to be sentient, sapient, or intelligent in a human way to be capable of demonstrating unpredictable, novel, and incredibly powerful behaviors. A steam engine is non-sentient, but it vastly exceeds human capabilities in certain applications. It’s no different for LLMs. You can stop talking about sentience.
