I have a domain name, one of its subdomains uses a clodflared tunnel to send traffic back to the emby server. No port forwarding on my router.

Cloudflared tunnels are pretty easy to set up for this purpose.

So my users just navigate to sub.domain.com.au, and are presented with an emby login screen, and I manage the users in emby. It works on most smart TVs too.

If you have any trouble setting up CloudFlare tunnel, let me know with a PM. They have changed their UI layout AND the name of some of their UI menu items, which is super annoying because the current UI doesn’t match any recent written or video guides, and so now it’s very easy to miss certain important aspects of the setup of the tunnel and mapping the tunnel to a subdomain.

I can at least give examples of what a working config tunnel path looks like and help troubleshoot.

No, I don’t use tailscale operationally.

I have installed it on one of my servers to try to understand it, but it’s not in active use. One day when I have the time I’ll try to do more with it. I’d prefer to mode away from CloudFlare because I prefer foss where I can, but I’m not enough of a purist to insist on it when there’s something else that’s easier to use, and free.
