I love this place, it’s actually friendly and that is such a breah of fresh air.

Indeed there is. Initially I tried to delete my account and I wrote in the “why are you leaving?” field when you close an account that “Hup-ho, it was time to go, good bye and good luck…” It was NOT a “please reconsider” appeal.
The deletion would NOT go through, then a day later I got the “appeal rejected” letter claiming it was approved by a person. I did NOT appeal.
So at that point I realized that something was definitely up with AI on the site beyond the comment bots and I pivoted to removing every bit of content I put in.
Got all my posts, but the comments on other users posts - well you only get access to what you put up in the prior year - a change that dropped with the IPO. before that, you could tunnel down into your comment history all the way back to your first one.
Also, as I was deleting, there was a weird resistance where I only got access to three pages worth of comments before the browser would get locked out and I’d get the account banned page with nothing else. I had - at the time - multiple junker laptops with active logins - so I’d switch up to those devices and continue on. Took several hours over three evenings to clear out that full year of comments I’d made that I could still access. Everything before October 2024 however, is inaccessible… unless a bot (it HAS to be a bot being trained, nothing else - certainly not another user - can access archived posts and unarchive and comment on them…) happens to reply on a comment.
At that point I’m on it like a terrier on a rat.
Alluded to that if he was going to act like a selfish spoiled child, maybe he needed to be treated like one and spanked. It was in a thread where everyone was making allusions, including the guy that started the thread off by calling his actions immature.
I think it was more the tone of the whole thread, god knows I did not have the nastiest reply by a long shot. Would be interesting to see who else got turfed from that conversation. It happened within 30 seconds of me posting. So there was definitely some bot-involved housecleaning going on.
I kept my account - did not delete it - and it’s weird that even though it’s a banned account, I am still getting replies to ancient posts now and again, that I think are bot training efforts. When I get those, I can actually get to the otherwise inaccessible threads - which are ostensibly archived - and I go through the post and look and see if I made other comments and delete them. There is definitely some shit going on with banned users data. If you delete your account, your comments become nameless and “lost property”.
Naah… fuck that shit. I’ll hold onto my account, banned or not. At least I can rip out anything they open up and make accessible again.
And I will… with a vengeance.
I got kicked off Reddit for daring to speak my thoughts regarding Stephen Miller.
Duty now demands that I never look back.

Johnny Bagadonuts.
Lenny “Short Eyes” (he likes 'em young!)
Vinny “the Fish” (aka Vincenzo Pesce)
Hmmm. Not sure of which scene, but anything with Rowan Atkinson is valid!

Yaah… naah.
I’d just pull the drive, reinstall on a new one, redownload the games and go merrily on my way. I have ZERO on the machine that is so important that I’d do anything other than that.
NGL, it’s current install is getting a bit cluttered since the last time I redid it with a full erase and reformat, so it wouldn’t be too terrible.
I don’t even have an email account set up on the device.

Yes! I wasn’t looking for whether it existed, I knew it did, but it was in a .sit file with an abbreviated name. Also apparently was an aplha build, so maybe that’s why the AI insisted it did not exist. Was looking for the last version available for the classic OS as I had one of the earliest.

Truth.
Am still clinging to Win 10 Pro. Since I mostly game with the PC, and watch videos with that machine… do I really need to upgrade the OS as long as the games run? At least at this point, I won’t get a gaming session interrupted by an update anymore, which is nice.

I have classic apple computers.
I also maintain a small list of sites I visit to get abandonware programs for them. Of the times I’ve used the AI results, I found what I was looking for fewer than 15%. At one point, I had the AI telling me there was no such thing as Winamp for Mac, while I was running it in MacOS 8.6 under the virtualization program, Sheepshaver.
Seriously?
AI’s got so little ability to sort through archived knowledge and pull up old links and sources, it’s as if anything before 2006 never existed.
Nuts to that.
I hit up ten blue links and have never looked back.

Compared to google they’re fucking amateurs.
LOL! Yeah, that’s about it…
On the other hand, thank you for posting this picture. I actually just spent 15 minutes going down the Ecce Homo rabbit hole. What a story, this disaster of a restoration turned into an absolute boon for the town.
Truly it’s creative and looks fun.
…that last guy tryin’ to roll though… LOL!
God bless you…!

NGL, fat titties SUCK when it’s blazing hot and you’ve got a scorching yeast infection eating the skin under your girls.
Intertrigo… SO not worth having fat titties.

…Also like some others have said, a non-trivial amount of the arguing that happens on other sites is likely egged on by astroturfing and prioritized by algorithms designed to keep attention rather than promote healthy discussion…
Reddit in a nutshell and what got me permabanned there after 15 years…

Thrift shops, yard sales… also local libraries often release their old books when new copies come in, so that’s an angle to investigate…

I generaly will upvote replies or posts were the commenter is making a sensible point in an argument, (even if it politically may NOT be something I agree with) as I do come to sites like lemmy with the “old school” usenet conversation philosophy.
If I can be a foil that another person can have ideas bounced off (esp. if they are really good ideas) I will jump in, upvote and comment.
I will upvote when someone is showing their artwork and I see a sincere effort and openness to share - that is always nice, even if the person is starting out and the work isn’t very polished. Be it cooking, photography, music, art, carpentry… whatever… people have to start somewhere and I will never tear into someoone’s effort in a destructive way.
I also upvote when someone like on the music comms brings a new artist whose style is something I have not heard before (and at my age, that is a rarity) and is well crafted and complex… Love that esp. so.
Ah! I see Forklift Driver Klaus is at it again!
I dunno… the Tiny Dish of the Chef’s Sincerity looks like it may be a banger of an item…
