Technology@lemmy.world•Half of planned US data center builds have been delayed or canceled, growth limited by shortages of power infrastructure and parts from China — the AI build-out flips the breakersEnglish
35·4 days agoMakes you wonder what they’re going to do with all this hardware they’re buying? I hope that they (the ultra rich) are the ones to hold the bag for once in their lives.
Just kidding, they’ll probably get a bailout from our (US) corrupt government.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you wash your clothes inside out?English
11·8 days agoJeans, yes definitely. The material is pretty thick and it’s a good way to ensure it’s clean. Also, it prevents the metal parts from bashing the inside of the washing machine.
I’m not actually positive it’s better for cleaning, but it’s just how my mother taught me how to do laundry when I was a child. :)

Anime@ani.social•New Ranma 1/2 Anime Gets 3rd Season in October (English-Subbed Trailer) - Anime News NetworkEnglish
61·12 days agoHow have people felt about this show, long term?
I’ve been putting off watching it because I’m super into the old show and not sure this can live up – but maybe I’m willing to give it a shot as the old show definitely had it’s fair share of problems compared to the original manga release.

Anime@ani.social•[Rec] Seeking recommendations for kid friendly animeEnglish
71·15 days ago6 year old is a bit of a tough territory here for anime recommendations, stuff like Rumiko Takahashi works (Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha) almost seem like they’d be fine but they probably tackle slightly too mature subject matter and would be better in early teens age.
This is a bit of an old school recommendation, but you might enjoy checking out the original Astroboy, old Tatsunoko shows and stuff like that. The older anime tends to skew a little less “mature”. However, sensibilities of what is ok for kids in America vs Japan always makes this difficult. For example, Detective Conan is a great kids anime by Japanese standards, but talking about murders and kidnappings might be a little much by American standards. So YMMV.
Obviously Pokemon is a good suggestion here. The original Digimon Movies are also pretty good and are done by a great director (Mamoru Hosoda) so you might like to check it out.

7·22 days agoI had to stop using them as much. I used to like using them but now the AI alarms are too high.
Now I write like a maniac, go reflect my souls better. Also, I’m making more friends with the semicolon.

26·1 month agoThat’s the way people should be looking at it. It basically means hard crashes are extremely rare in the firefox ecosystem.
To be fair, I can’t remember the last time a browser crashed on me in general.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 12 Reportedly Set for Release This Year as a Fully Modular, Subscription-Based, AI-Focused OSEnglish
4·1 month agoTo be fair to Cash for Clunkers, the intent was to get people on better gas efficiency cars, not to downgrade people to worse cars. California policy is the one that mandated cameras on newer cars, but also to be fair there it does reduce incidents of crashing during reverse.
I think Microsoft shouldn’t really be making plans around windows based on the state of the government today and should be concerned with how it changes just 6 months from now.

4·1 month agoNot sure how they could be confident in the idea of selling hardware to users right now, considering even the cost of thin clients is stupidly high.
Maybe there’s something I’m missing here.

51·1 month agoCool. Wasn’t sure about the idea of more evangelion but I’ll keep an open mind. It’ll be interesting to see what Tsurumaki has left to say in the Eva universe and it’s definitely very interesting that Yoko Taro is working on the script. So it’s easy to say it beat my expectations.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there some sort of public blacklist of known youtube channels made with AI?English

Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to prevent people from blocking or ignoring channels they hate?

I always go mint chocolate chip when I’m getting my own ice cream.
It’s really rare for me to opt into getting a tub of it, as often I’m getting that for multiple guests or whatever, and forcing mint chocolate chip on everyone in that circumstance feels like forcing Hawaiian pizza on others at a party. So when I’m getting a scoop in store, it’s like “now’s my chance!”
