Watching someone constantly take their hand off the keyboard to use the mouse when there’s a trackpad right there is my hell.

34·8 days agoAnd this is why graffiti is not bad. If companies get to alter public spaces with their ads to make money, then people should be able to alter public spaces for artistic reasons.

1·8 days agoIs 1000€ a common price for a bike in the Netherlands? It seems a bit much for a bike that will be stolen at an inconvenient time.

The trouble is when you don’t remember them but also don’t have an alternative set up and are just expecting things to work.
Ideally you remember a minimum of 3-4 phone numbers that can help you in an emergency and give you access to the rest of the phone numbers.
You should put that on your CV, that’s honestly impressive

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something that most people normally do that you find weird?
19·18 days agoGossiping, and the inevitable culture of “what will people say?” that comes along with it. I don’t really talk about other people when they’re not there. And it’s really weird when someone introduces you to a new person and they’re like “I’ve heard so much about you”. It almost sounds threatening.

I’m sorry what?
Since they went into the effort to make this sound so ominous, it’d be cool to see some actual inferences from the data points. For example it would be pretty easy to tell you are behind a VPN and your real location is probably xyz.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think every generation thinks their time growing up was the best?
4·22 days agoCertainly not, at least for younger ages. I was in the TV generation. Not enough freedom to go out like the previous generations, not enough technology to have interactive content or communicate with friends like the next generations. We spent all day in front of the TV and talking through a shared landline (if lucky).

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should I post in the [Category] Comm or should I make a [Sub-Category] Comm and post there instead? (Or do I do both?)
4·23 days agoIf they’re not too many songs I’d just post in c/music. There’s also !nonenglishmusic@piefed.social where they’ll probably appreciate it more, just check the rules because they require a specific format.

This is not a sentence I expected to read ever.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your favorite childhood cartoon that everyone else seems to have forgotten about?
4·25 days agoWatership down. Everyone knows the movie (which is incredible) but not many people remember the show, which was one of the very few kids’ shows on TV at the time that weren’t comedies.

5·28 days agoLet’s add to this that keyboard, mouse, and touchpad are interfaces to the same system and so should have access to the same behaviors so you don’t need all three of them to be productive. Looking at you MacOS.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Anyone feeling like doesn't belong anywhere?
2·1 month agoFor what it’s worth I never felt like I belonged in my home country. And I’ve never lived abroad but when visiting, it always felt very foreign too. As much as I dislike my country’s culture it’s still a part of me that’s very hard to change and I guess that’s the problem with living abroad. In a way, international groups might feel the most comfortable as there’s no predefined culture you have to fit into.
Interesting, apparently the lyrics come from a runic inscription on an ancient grave stone found in Norway.

Photos/videos from my phone get backed up on two laptops and eventually an external drive. Photos from cameras do the same with the more interesting photos going to my phone as well. These all tend to be on the same physical location so I really should find better way.
