  • It is the fifth reprisal so it clearly has its fans. Considering the caliber of performers they don’t have time for a lengthy prep for an original production so they will do reprisals like this.

Lea Michelle did not perform though her replacement was so very good.

Nicolas Christopher blew the roof off the house as he always does and that alone makes it worth the price of admission.

It is good but I would not make a special trip to NYC to see it. We were going back and forth between Chess or The Outsiders and we made the “safe” bet to see chess based on the three leads. As I said, unfortunately, michelle Did not perform at our show.

If I could go back three months to the planning phase of the trip I would pick Outsiders.

  • Every person I have ever met from has issues with their home countries.

One of my best friends was from Pakistan and when I asked him about why he left, he used to bitch that “the three things my country doesn’t have are…

I work with a guy basically ran away from Sierra Leona in the late 90s with nothing but the clothes he had on. Then spent 3 months as a slave on a fishing boat until winding up in a refugee camp and then working his way to America.

This past weekend I had a conversation with a women in NYC who had to flee her home country of Peru in the early 90s because a group called Shining Path were killing everyone around her.

She spent years workin in cruise ships and the hotel/resort industrybefore seeing a classified add that told people to apply for the citizenship lottery in the US. She did and she won, she got to NYC in 98 with 600 bucks in her pocket.

So yeah we all have issues with our home countries, some significant and some trivial and contrived.

  • In my experience no one picks a team, it is typically geography that does it, or it can be you saw a particular game that made you dig a team. Or someone important to you gets you into a team.

Growing up I was mostly indifferent to sports, I joined the Army was the same until I got married. My wife who spent her formative years in Texas was a huge American football fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the TCU Hornfrogs, so I was indoctrinated.

The Army stationed us in Maryland and we settled here so we became Ravens fans and she never lost her love for TCU.

Now I did love one sport growing up and that was Lacrosse. One drizzly night my friends and I were wondering around the grounds of the University of Virginia and we walked into Scott Stadium, as the gates were wide open and I watched The University of Maryland play UVA in lacrosse and it was fucking unreal watching those guys play. As I was a total townie I had to hate UVA soo…

I fell in love with the UM LAX team and have followed them for decades, as much as I could we not TV and pre-internet days.

I can count the number of ways that having Maryland as my last duty station benefitted my family and how lucky it was.
